Jesse Jackson, Jr. resigned

Like our GOP voted for West, Walsh, Akin, Mordoosh and the others who would corrupt the Constitution?

Jesse Jackson Jr. Resigns from Congress, May Face Jail Time

Jesse Jackson Jr. has resigned from Congress just weeks after winning reelection for a ninth term.

My question is, how did he get re-elected? Perhaps the voters couldn't read? Anyhow, it'd be nice if the FBI also investigated his crooked father. Like father, like son?

because the voters voted for corruption.

Here are some sanity remarks from someone who actually lives in this state.

First, yeah, it was wrong of this guy to run for re-election when he knew he was probably going to be indicted and knew his health wouldn't allow him to serve. He should have stepped down.

This district has a history of "colorful" Congressmen. His predecessor, Mel Reynolds, was convicted of having sex with an underage girl, followed by pilfering campaign funds for personal expenses. (Reynolds is one of those planning to run for Jackson's seat when a special election is called.) Before that, you have Gus Savage, who groped a Peace Corps volunteer during a visit to Zaire.

As long as the district has a history of scumbags serving, I guess it's okay then. I guess voters has low self esteem and low expectations. Sad, that people will settle for scum.

Or they recognize they don't expect their congressment to be choirboys.

Frankly, I'd rather have Clinton's economy, Cigars and all, than Bush's economy.

You guys simply do not understand Chicago-style politics. First you get elected to serve the people and then you serve your time in jail. It's a cycle. All Chicago politicians are actually running for a term in prison.

Good, obamaturd ought to have a life sentence then.

Much truth in that. I'm unsure if this is complete, but will give you some idea:

Jesse Jackson, Jr. Should Never have run for Re-election
With charges pending shows the man has no respect for the office.
He knew he was sick and could not serve shows the man has no respect for the people he serves.
Jesse Jackson, Jr. Should Never have been for Re-elected
Shows that the people he serves are stupid and get the type of representation they deserve.

Now, don't go losing that cynicism, all politicians lie. Just a step further that they steal.

Dixon is out in Republican Suburban Downstate...

We have just as many corrupt Republicans in this state as we do Corrupt Democrats.

And frankly, they gave Blago a much tougher sentance than they gave George Ryan, whose corruption resulted in people being killed in accidents. (He was involved in a scheme of selling Commerical Driver Licenses for money.)

You piece of shit....Romney was talking about people that are free loaders.

His data % was wrong, but the point was people that live off the Government and don't work.....scum like you.

Ignore the posers FaketheJake and Joe the factory worker.

They are liberals parading here as GOPers to cause trouble.

They claim Romney is the reason the GOP lost, not the fact that Democraps have bought voters with Obamacare, food stamps, unemployment benefits that keep going, etc.

People are lazy, if they get their booze, drugs, food and TV....they don't give a shit beyond that. They don't like people like Romney with more money than them and they don't like him telling them hard work is behind success in life.

Ignore the trolls making up shit here, they are those scumbags living on welfare. Why else does the Fake and Factory worker have so much time here.....

What about Republican members of the 47%, especially retirees and young families taking advantage of tax cuts, that were turned off by Romney's comments and either stayed home or voted for Obama?

He was talking about ALL the people that don't pay income tax, many of them loyal Republicans. Since you obviously don't know a thing about me, why should anyone believe you know anything about the 47%? You're a sad, sad case. Get some help, please.

Is their really a therapist you dislike enough to wish GB on?

You've got a point. They'd be earning their money that day for sure.

GoneBezerk is part of the 47%, that is what is funny, and one of the 'freeloaders' condemned by Romney.

Jesse Jackson Jr.’s Resignation Could Cost Taxpayers $5.1 Million - ABC News

No problem, Illinois is rolling in money.

Jesse Jackson Jr.’s Resignation Could Cost Taxpayers $5.1 Million

Jesse Jackson Jr.’s resignation from the House could cost Illinois taxpayers more than $5.1 million, according to the state elections board.

...

Quinn, a Democrat, must set a special-election date within five days, under Illinois law. The election must be held in the 115 days after that.

Jackson may have cost taxpayers extra by resigning so suddenly.

To save money, the 2nd District could hold its special election on Illinois’ consolidated election schedule at the same time as lesser races throughout the state.

But that doesn’t seem possible under Illinois’s statutory special-election timeline. Illinois primaries will happen Feb. 26, but the April 9 general-election date falls outside the 115-day special-election range. Counting Thursday as day 1, March 21 is the earliest the 2nd District special election could be held.

Had Jackson waited until Dec. 15 to resign, Quinn could have scheduled the general special election for April 9, along with Illinois’ other general elections.

The cost of the special elections will be borne by the counties in Jackson’s district, as well as by the state.

Holding a statewide special election to replace governor Rod Blagojevich cost the state between $90 million and $100 million, according to estimates, the state elections board said.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree: Jr. learned all his moves from the King of Bling. (Sorry, I couldn't come up with a word rhyming with "extortion.")

This actually pisses me off at Dan Webb. I doubt he couldn't have had the resignation delayed until 12/15, as part of the plea deal-stating saving the state that kind of $$$.

Illinois is, apparently, the worst. It does offer former governors a well deserved retirement plan though.

The state, both parties are corrupt, no argument from me.

To the mindless... the thread is about JJ Jr... not George Bush or George Ryan. We all know there is plenty of corruption and dimwits in both parties. Just admit it, the guy is a piece of crap
