Oh? How does that work when the last time population growth was over 250k in a month was Oct 2008? (not including Jan 2011 where there was a major statistical adjustment).

In Aug 2012, the population was 243,566,000 and employment was 142,101,000. That's a ratio of 58.3% The Population iincreased to 243,772,000 in Sep 2012 (+206,000)

So to keep the emp-pop ratio the same, that's (142,101,000+X)/243,772,000 = .583
Solving for X we get 142,101,000+X=142,221,000; and X = 120,000

Actual increase in totat employment was +873,000 way more than needed.

(the =114,000 is non farm payroll jobs and is not used for the UE calculations).
