So let's re-enact the Exodus with the proper "features." Nobody on the Exodus side has a beard except Moses and those who came back with Moses. Just how they came back and what they did is the real question. Joshua embellished like crazy writing the Old Testament. Let's think rationally.
Moses, as a construction worker/slave, takes a brick, smashes it on his taskmaster's head, kills him, steals his outfit, and walks out. Where does he go? He goes HOME to Midian. What does he tell Midian? He tells Midian that the Pharaoh lied about how long the construction would take, and that the other Midians at the site will be there years longer than the original "deal" with Pharaoh. He also tells them that he met Joshua of Goshen, and Joshua claims he and his are great warriors, and that if someone could sneak 50 or so swords to them while the main Egyptian army is "away," Joshua and the "Levites" could hack their way out.
Seti dies, Ramses takes over, and wants to show how "tough" he is... so he picks a fight with the Hittites, which one has to really follow closely....
In short, Ramses sends 3 battalions north towards eastern Turkey to fight the Hittites. His battalion gets too far ahead, and the Hittites ambush and start winning, almost ending Ramses' reign very early. The other two battalions arrive, the Egyptians start winning, and then for some unexplained reason, Ramses sues for peace and goes home with nothing.....

In Exodus, the Israelites encounter JUST EGYPTIAN CHARIOTS, not ground troops. After ending the battle of Kadesh, Ramses had a big new problem, which explains everything. Ramses got news that the slaves in his soon to be new home on the east side of the Nile had rebelled, killed everyone, taken everything of value, and were getting away. Ground troops wouldn't get there in time. So the chariots are sent... which is what attacks the Israelites. To escape, the Israelites go south on the shore of the Red Sea until it turns into the Sea of Reeds, and ditch behind mountains at a bend. Evening arrives. The Egyptian chariot commanders think the Israelites are pinned for the night, water behind them, chariots in front of them. Then low tide arrives. Across the Sea of Reeds go the Israelites....
Who got very VERY MAD about that??
