Denmark has demanded an explanation from the Israeli government for video footage showing a senior Israeli army officer striking a Danish activist in the face with an M16 rifle, an act which has been sharply criticised by the Israeli prime minister, president and chief of staff.

In the video, Lt Col Shalom Eisner, deputy commander of the Jordan Valley territorial brigade, is clearly seen slamming his rifle into the face of Andreas Ias. There was no obvious reason for the assault in the clip, which was broadcast on Israeli television and posted on YouTube. The soldier was suspended by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) pending an investigation.

The video emerged on the same day as Israel launched a security operation to prevent hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists entering the country en route to the West Bank, claiming they were provocateurs and were planning acts of violence. The assault on the Danish man and the operation to block the entry of Palestinian sympathisers have led to questions about whether Israel's response to activists is excessively heavy-handed and will damage its image.

No love for the millions slaughtered in Darfur by the religion of peace? :bow3:

The genocide in Darfur has claimed 400,000 lives and displaced over 2,500,000 people. More than one hundred people continue to die each day; five thousand die every month.

Since February 2003, the Sudanese government in Khartoum and the government-sponsored Janjaweed militia have used rape, displacement, organized starvation, threats against aid workers and mass murder. Violence, disease, and displacement continue to kill thousands of innocent Darfurians every month.

What made you tink that just because they are Jews they would act any better than the rest of the humans in the world?

If Canada were firing rockets into the US like the animals in Gaza do to Israel, the US would have nuked Canada.

That Israel hasn't flattened Gaza in its entirety is a testament to its civility.

Now, you know, dumbass :clap2:

The Israeli Soldier clubbed him with the rifle? if this Danish guy went into Iran or Syria acting like this they would have machine gunned him to death.

If that danish guy were carrying a cartoon of the pedophile muhammad, he'd be murdered

Israel's desperation is increasing.
It's extremely amusing the way you think.
You somehow think that the action of an individual person is the same as the actions of Israel.
You think that in the middle of the demonstration this military official got an order to hit this guy with his weapon?
Really?!

If anything this incident brought shame to Israel and Israel clearly stated so in the press.
No, Israel's he official policy has no play here this is an act of an individual person. If that was not the case and indeed beating protesters was Israel's official policy we would see many more beaten "peace" activists.

Anyway we all know how protesters are treated in Arab countries like Iran and Syria.
In Israel if you get out of line you maybe get hit in the face, in Arab countries you get out of line you get the bullet in the head.

I don't know why the soldier hit the Dane in the head but if anything I think it shows how different Israel is when compared to the other countries in the region, like you said in Israel this guys gets clubbed with a rifle in the head but in the end he is alive to tell his tale, if he went to Iraq or Saudi Arabia to be an "activist" he would either be shot dead right now or be locked in a dungeon somewhere being interrogated and tortured by secret police.

While Tinny felt he was really demonizing Israel by telling about a solider hitting a protestor, naturally he is not interested in the complete story about what had happened to cause this soldier to do this. As one Christian site reporting on the incident stated:
IDF Spokesman Yoav Mordechai lamented that the short, sensationalist video clip had managed to put the entire episode out of context.

"The video doesn't represent all of it," Mordechai told reporters, noting that the activists spent a great deal of time and energy trying to provoke a violent response from the Israelis. Eisner himself insisted that he was not the first to strike, and that in the moments just before those broadcast worldwide, Ayas broke two of Eisner's fingers.

"I’ve learned my lesson from the incident and will never again be dragged into provocation,” Eisner told Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv, "but you must understand the whole situation, in which we were trying for two hours to stop lawbreakers. I simply did my job."

Of course, Tinny is not interested in what the Muslim police do to the Christian Copts. The Christian Copts can continue to be harassed, beaten, and killed in Egypt, and Tinny doesn't even blink.

Police in Egypt surround and beat a Christian Copt.

"It was 12 years ago, on March 14, 1983, that the commandant of the Marine Corps sent a highly unusual letter to the secretary of defense expressing frustration and anger at Israel. General R.H. Barrow charged that Israeli troops were deliberately threatening the lives of Marines serving as peacekeepers in Lebanon. There was, he wrote, a systematic pattern of harassment by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that was resulting in 'life-threatening situations, replete with verbal degradation of the officers, their uniform and country.'”

It probably made the guy's day. They came to Israel with the purpose of generating negative publicity, and this incident did it for them. It will, no doubt, be the high point in their lives, the most difference they will ever make in the world. I'll bet the guy hopes it will leave a scar.

Yup. The IDF soldier was out of line and he is suspended.

And, pro-Palestinian protestors who go to Israel to instigate violence, shouldn't be too surprised when they get what they want.

(It would be nice to see the few minutes before this happened, too.)
