Is there a potential Republican Candidate for Prez 2012 that anyone's excited about?

I guess we're 2 years away. That's a long time off. I'm trying to remember if I knew much about Bill Clinton in 1990. I guess not. I'm fairly sure that amongst the field of Pawlenty, Palin, Romney, Gingrich, Thune, Barbour, Jindal, there are no great candidates in the group. Perhaps I'm wrong, or maybe there's some darkhorse that will come along that I don't know about. I guess that's why I asked the question. I'm impressed with Kasich, Christie, and Rubio, but they're all new to the scene or at least won't be running in 2012. Romney and Palin have obvious strengths, but big weaknesses too. The others, I just don't see being strong enough. Am I missing something?

Republicans don't nominate darkhorses...it comes with being conservative

Pawlenty, Palin, Romney, Gingrich, Thune, Barbour, Jindal is about all you got

You will find your thread will die from this point on. Nobody from the right has anyone they will say they support. You will get "wait and see"....which means "We ain't got nobody"

I am going to "wait and see" and then make a decision. I like Romney. I really like Chris Christie and Marco Rubio for a VP but I don't think Christie will be in the picture. You did leave out Huckabee, rightwinger. He is rating highly....

Oh, is the GOP pushing social issues ahead of economic issues right now? Ending DADT, expanding gay marriage, throwing Christians out of public buildings, jamming public funding for abortion down taxpayers throats?

Which one of those does Daniels think Democrats are willing to call "truce" on?
I think, and perhaps he does too, that making that kind of an announcement will calm our own side to stay on the issues that are urgent, the same ones the T-Party sponsored, and that if the Left tries to work up the public on your aformentioned issues, that our side will keep our heads and just not join in. Of course the media will do that for us, and that will be another nail in their coffin.

It's not a truce if only one side calls it. It's a surrender.

Don't be a sucker.

really, really, really, really excited about Sarah Palin running in 2012.

Here's my takeaway:

We have Mitch Daniels, Darkhorse...hasn't paid dues as next in line. Not normally the GOP route, but a Midwesterner with solid credentials. That might be your guy.

Huckabee, uh, no. No chance of winning general.

Romney, wow, the GOP would really have to hold their nose.

Palin, uh uh, 60%+ don't think she's qualified and ain't changing their minds. Doesn't matter what the other 40% think in a general election.

Jeb, wrong last name...

GingrichPawlentyJindalBarbour, ha

Kasich, Rubio, Christie, not yet...

So Daniels or Romney. Would the GOP nominate a flip-flopping Mormon that not too long ago was Pro-Choice and for a health care plan awfully similar to "ObamaCare" that couldn't beat McCain? in spite of his strengths. I'm guessing if they have any viable alternative, they won't pick Romney. Daniels and Romney could both give the GOP a chance in the rust belt.

Why does this question get asked every week? The answers are all the same. Libs bashing every candidate...cons pointing out the obvious...that it's TOO early to be choosing favorites. But I guess since there isn't much else to talk about without stepping on some liberal toes, this is what we're stuck with...

I do have an answer for you...MS Governor Haley Barbour.

He would be a great candidate, but won't get through the primaries. I'm curious about the way the left will attack him because of his very deep southern accent. I'm sure he'll be portrayed as an evil plantation owner sitting on his second story porch overlooking his fields and slaves.

But if anyone bothered to look at how he managed to resurrect the MS Coast from obliteration, (more than mere flood damage) following the direct hit of Hurricane Katrina, they would be forced to admit that he does have the qualifications to hold the highest office in the land.

I'm excited about Sarah Palin. She represents all the best values of the Republican Party

The absolutely the best choice, which doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell is:

Gingrich/Bolton. Or, Gingrich/Sarah

More likely than not:

Mitt Romney/Huckabee. Mitt Romney/Sarah. And, I can live with that.

Look who they ran last time. Out of that bunch, McCain won the primaries.. Go figure.

Republicans are in the habit of putting up the biggest idiots recently..

Only far right wacks hold their noses about Romney. The GOP is so desperate for the WH again, the wacks may support him anyway because he will be obviously so much better than Palin or any of the Dem candidates.

Palin cannot win.

I am seriously hoping that the GOP runs Palin.

I am also hoping that she assumes a populist stance and embraces the objections that the rank and file TEA PARTY members have been bitching about.

Of course if Palin gets the mod, I fully expect that she'.. tow the line of the GOP masters (the Banksters) , and disappoint her supporters.

And yeah, that's sort of why I'd like to see here win the oval office.

Perhaps, once the TP players are betrayed by a suddenly compliant Palin, they'll realize that neither t\the GOP or the Dems are EVER going to really give a damned about the average American or about the Republic.

You Republicans loyalists need your own Obama to wake you up to this reality, too, I guess.

Palin doesn't belong within 20 miles of the White House.

The only one with buzzzzzz is the one from Russia, oh, sorry about that, Alaska.

Seriously though I think Jeb Bush might be a good choice or Mitch Daniels.

Out of all the Bush men, I think Jeb Bush is the best. He ran Florida for 8 years has some across the board draw, but can he overcome his bros wars?

Mitch has some Washington experience as the first budget director under Bush and he has certainly kept Indiana's budget under control through these trying times. He has the economic and governmental smarts to help the country get out of this mess we are in. Certainly more than Sarah.

Agree.

I like Jeb Bush and Mitch Daniels. I could vote for either one.

Don't think either will be running though.

As for who's running in 2012?? As far as I know no one had declared their running yet. Kinda hard to pick one when you don't know who's running.

How about the Dems??

Was watching a show on the History Channel Re: The Presidents. I was really surprised on the number of Presidents who held office but weren't nominated by their party for another term. Both Dem and Rep presidents. Good show.

Will Obama run??

Will the Dems nominate him or someone else?

Hell. If I were the Dems I'd seriously think about unhitching my horses from his wagon big time.
