Actually, no. Israel's claim lies in their God's Covenant with Abraham. The western part of what is now called Jordan was part of the Israelite kingdom. It was populated by the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and part of the tribe of Menasheh.

The state of Jordan didn't even exist until 1921, and they aligned themselves with Egypt in the Six-Day War. That's why Jordan lost control of the West Bank and East Jerusalem to Israel, even though they didn't relinquish its claim to the territory until 1988.

It is a work in progress. We'll have a better idea after Rafah has been taken. It will take many months to completely destroy the vast tunnel networks.
