Is America on the path to permanent war?

That was communism. But you bring up a good point. Most likely we will always be at war with either Islamofacsists or communists.

Or some other boogeyman dreamed up by the government.

Probably N. Korea before the end of the year. This would make a good borad game to sell at xmas.

Earlier this week, North Korea engaged South Korea in a two-minute artillery attack along the Yeonpyeong, a strip of several tiny, sparsely populated islands nestled in the Pacific Ocean roughly seven miles off the coast of North Korea. There, hundreds of fishermen live alongside the roughly 1,000 South Korean sailors who found themselves under attack, according to news reports. Two civilians are said to have died in the barrage.

As the USS George Washington, an American warship, rushes to the seas around Korea in aid of its ally, South Korea, North Korea has ramped up the rhetoric, officials reportedly saying the country is at the verge of a war.

The fear, of course, is that a dispute over land that's seemingly insignificant will grow into a larger conflict that drags in the United States and involves other countries, such as powerhouse China, which is separated from the Korean peninsula by a river in the north.

Maybe we could have some kind of pool on USMB whether Iran, North Korea, Yemen, Somalia, or some other "evil" "Hitleresque" nation is next for our force of good to drop liberty-bombs on the unsuspecting inhabitants?

Its actually not that difficult to handicap. It will be Iran. China is too close to NK, the others like Somalia & Yemen are irrelevant. We can just isolate them and let them all starve.

Yes, as long as the manufacturing of weapons is such big business, war is very profitable for a few.

We cannot abide the economic doldrums we are in. There's zero chance we will grow on our own, without war. We can no longer take the lead in manufacturing -- mebbe we can in organized violence.

O wait, we have that already......
