The so-called "hard liners" in Tehran could hardly have hoped for better than what the U.S. has just handed them. It gives them ammunition for propaganda with their own population. It drives a wedge between the U.S. and its allies. It increases the argument of those who say Israel influences policy too much.It provides a motive for further 'defense' efforts.
Unfortunately, the Iranian people are not "hardliners" and the U.S. action is not in their interests. It is not in the interests of the American people, either. Despite the long list of gains provided by posters (uh, it must be somewhere here), America's position has been rather compromised.
Strange things happen, however. We can only watch, hope and see, now.
When will the U.S. have a policy with, at the same time, clarity of historical perspective and vision for the future?
