Iran 'Definitely' Closing Strait of Hormuz...

You almost have to believe it's all a conspiracy. Barry knew about the oil pipeline for three years and said he didn't have enough time to study it so he vetoed it or claimed that Hillary vetoed it and then went to Disney land. What do we pay the CIA to do? Play politics or figure out WTF is going on in the world? So we have to assume the CIA knows what's going to happen in the Strait and so does Barry and Barry Hussein is fine with cutting off the flow of oil from Canada and the mid-east in order to make a political point or crush the economy for good.

Cutting off the flow, now what kind of moroonie would think that is remotely possible. The oil companies were planning to export more refined products abroad with the help of expanding the existing pipeline, not help decrease the price of gasoline here in the states.

Canada remained the largest exporter of total petroleum in September, exporting 2,829 thousand barrels per day to the United States.

Released November 29, 2011.

That's double of what we bought from the Saudis!

Yep, and better capability insures better infrastructure and flow. Maybe we need a refinery in the North West. You would support that, right? That would help stabilize the price here.

The Iranian cut off threat would effect Countries all over the world directly. What we do with Canada reduces that threat. You do understand that principle, right?

just think how much easier things would be right now had we stayed out of middle east affairs over the last century.

What is your alternative to pressuring Iran to drop it's nuclear program?

In case you haven't noticed sanctions haven't worked thus far. What has is the assassinations of their top scientists and bombings of their facilities.

We don't need full scale war to pin prick the necessary targets with bombs.

Iran WILL NOT STOP UNLESS FORCED. Meanwhile we wast time money and resources playing these stupid chess games that net NO results other than starving the population of their country and driving up the global cost of oil.

Assassinating people and bombing suspected nuke sights is just a finger in the dike. If they want a nuclear program, they will get one. Sanctions are a big stick against having nukes. If Iran wants an economy like North Korea, they can keep their nukes

The sanctions are making them squirm. That is why they are saber rattling
True; but those who rattle sabers eventually have to either use them, or shut up. I hope, for the sake of an ancient culture which has been hijacked, and the masses of Iranians who do NOT support their (increasingly) mad leadership, that Iran does the latter. The fate of the mullahs and the fanatics is of no concern to me.

We are on a collision course with Iran. Given enough time, the people of that nation might eventually be able to take their country back; as it is, time appears to be growing short. If Iran does close the Straits, we WILL re-open them. We really have no other choice.

The problem I have is with the statement that claimed the President somehow cut off the flow of oil from Canada, and that it was a move that will crush the economy. Not only is it not true but it is ridiculous.

If Iran moves to shut down the strait it is likely we would see a coalition of Western and Arab nations come together to stop them much like we had a coalition to remove Iraq from Kuwait.

Tensions in the Gulf could reach a breaking point as a senior Iranian official said Iran would “definitely” close the Strait of Hormuz if an EU oil embargo disrupted the export of crude oil, the semi-official Fars news agency reports. The announcement came in response to a decision by the European Union on Monday to impose an oil embargo on Iran over the country’s alleged nuclear weapons program.

“The pressure of sanctions is designed to try and make sure that Iran takes seriously our request to come to the table,” EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said.

However, with Washington’s decision to deploy a second carrier strike group in the Gulf, the EU’s attempt to pressure Iran economically could greatly increase the likelihood of all-out war in the region. The Strait of Hormuz is the vital link between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

It is also one of the most strategic chokepoints in the world when it comes to oil transit.
With world oil output estimated at some 88 million barrels per day in 2011, the US Energy Information Administration estimated that some 17 million of those barrels passed through the Strait.

If economic sanctions sufficiently pressure Iran to retaliate by closing down the Strait, nearly 20 per cent of worldwide oil trade would be impacted, resulting in a massive spike in global energy costs.

With over half a million regular forces and an additional 120,000 personnel in the country’s elite Revolutionary Guard, analysts believe the consequences of a US-led war against Iran would dwarf recent Western-backed military incursions the Middle East.

Thus far, the US decision to maintain two carrier strike groups in the region has been described as “a routine activity” by Iran.

apparently, the commodities markets aren't buying into the threat.
RBOB Gasoline is trading flat today. Oil is up about 1.25% on the day.
The issue here is any blockade hurts Iran and the Middle Eastern OPEC countries more than it hurts the rest of the world.
Other OPEC nations plus Canada and the US will simply ramp up production to make up the difference.
I do not believe an Iranian blockade of the Strait would last more than a few days.
No matter what, Iran is going to come out a loser in this one.
Case and point. Last Friday the Iranian government issued a statement saying it would not block the strait.
Now that the EU is refusing to buy oil from Iran, they are throwing another hissy fit.
It's much ado about nothing.

The increasingly mad leadership of Iran has the full support of most of the Iranian people. That's the part we don't get. Americans WANT to believe that any moment the Iranian people are going to rise up and replace the muslim leadership with a western style fun democracy.

The West won't believe the truth so we will have to get a boot in our teeth. Even if we win, we will assuredly lose.

If all we do is Naval and Air strikes we can't lose. And I don't see this President approving an Invasion of Iran.

Hey genius. When supply is increased and demand remains static or lags behind supply, the price of said product would ordinarily decrease.
Now, just because the product that would flow through Keystone would not necessarily be distributed here in the form of gasoline, does not mean a downward adjustment in the wholesale price of fuel would not occur. The fact is with more product in the marketplace, that fall in price is damned likely.
Not only would Keystone be helpful in increasing Canada's and the US ability to process and export to market oil and gas, it strengthens the position of both nations as players in the world markets. The pipeline would add 20,000 permanent high paying jobs as well.
Obama stopped it to secure part of his voting base. The enviro-nazis. Period!

You guys are just soft on Iran...what a bunch of pussies

Another hypocrite pussy heard from. Now you pussies are suddenly the most blood-thirsty Warmongering Chickenhawks in the Country. Gee, why the sudden change of heart? You're probably one of those OWS nutters who will be back here in a few months boasting about Wall Street gains & profits too. People like you don't know what you want to be. You don't stand for anything. Do you hate War? Do you Love war? Do you hate Wall Street? Do you love Wall Street? You really are just dishonest pussies who stand for nothing.

Talk about dishonesty! Why are you always trying to incite war with Iran? It's like you're trying to fulfill your own prophecy, except in that case it's called an AGENDA!!!

Obama stopped the pipeline. He cancelled 20,000 jobs for political purposes.

But he certainly didn't stop the flow of oil from our favorite neighbor.

In 2008, TransCanada’s Presidential Permit application for Keystone XL to the State Department indicated “a peak workforce of approximately 3,500 to 4,200 construction personnel” to build the pipeline.
Jobs estimates above those listed in its application draw from a 2011 report commissioned by TransCanada that estimates 20,000 “person-years” of employment based on a non-public forecast model using undisclosed inputs provided by TransCanada.
According to TransCanada’s own data, just 11% of the construction jobs on the Keystone I pipeline in South Dakota were filled by South Dakotans–most of them for temporary, low-paying manual labor.
