While I might cheerfully advocate a Jewish State under any just and beneficial set of conditions---geo-political safe-zone, relative stability of neighboring states, military and financial independence, diplomatic autonomy--the historical set of conditions by which Israel sprang to life and is further maintained has merely served to corrupt Judaism both politically and morally, and implicate the United States in an emblematic morass that serves to undermine its select diplomatic rhetoric of cultivating "fledgling democracies" in the region. The time-line remains the most resolute threat to the Israeli interests, and under normal considerations of self-interest it is unthinkable that the extraordinary political, diplomatic and military advantages of the Israelis were not employed to broker a modest two-state resolution decades ago, and most assuredly one in which Israel retained a remarkable advantage. Herin lies the pathological component of the Israeli leadership: pursuing agravated--and conversely aggravating---policies that have their antecedents in both textbook Zionism and decades-old expansion paradigns is an obsolete strategy that ignores many of the most ominous developments of the last two decades. To this extent the Israelis are intoned by their own immutability, and the dead-weight of policies that will only serve to threaten the very foundations of their tentative state...
