This is the CORRECT way to measure debt accumulation.
Because it makes Obama look good, right. You're a nudnik and a half. Like that's news.
The figures are wrong anyway. Debt was 10T when Obama took office. It's 18T today.
Only liberals can claim 5 is more than 6.

No it isn't. The debt, as a percentage of gdp is the CORRECT way to measure it. The debt was 49% of the gdp when Reagan left office, it's 99% under Obama, and that was LAST year. He is destroying our economy. Wake the hell up.

National Debt by Year Compared to GDP and Major Events

It was 116% in 1945. Did Roosevelt/Truman destroy us? Nope.

Wake up.
It was that high to finance WW2, which was temporary. Spending declined dramatically after 1945. With Obozo spending is on a permanantly high plateau, headed higher.

.

Would that it were this easy.

Presidencies don't exist in a vacuum. They don't start at Square One. Actions taken by Presidents and Congresses are based on conditions, and those conditions could very well be the result policies of former administrations. Domestic/economic conditions, foreign/military conditions.

Yes, administrations are responsible for their policies and actions, and it's (probably) safe to say a majority of data is a direct reflection of presidential/congressional policy. But life is not partisan black & white, it's nuance.

Presidents also have to work with Congress, which actually passes spending bills. So the blame is spread around. Bush allowed the GOP to spend like Dems in his first term. One reason the GOP lost so badly in 06 and 08. Obozo never found a problem that more government couldn't fix.

Actually, it doesn't. 52% is not good. But it is decidedly better than 101% or 186% (Bush 43, Reagan).

Yes, it was. But the point remains. 116% did not destroy the country. So, how is 98% going to?

About 2 trillion of the government spending since Obama became president is interest on the debt accumulated under past presidents.

That's the sort of expenditure you have to factor out in your quest to blame Obama for all of the deficits and debt accumulation over the past 6 years.

Id ask for some kind of proof but thats the sort of thing you do when dealing with people who are serious, informed, and committed to legitimate discussion.

Add up the interest on the debt from 2009 to 2014. You've heard of the interest on the debt, right?

You tell'em rabbit. How people don't know that George Bush left Obama a GREAT economy with soaring employment, no debt and no economic collapse to deal with. The budget was balanced and everything was great.
So says the rabbit. Right rabbit?

Rabbits don't know nothing about no interest on debt. In rabbit world, every new President starts with a clean slate. A balanced budget and increased revenue from tax cuts.

Right rabbit?

I am certain you can supply proof.
Oh wait. No, you can't.
