i'm really scared of a trade war with China

so Trump places tariffs on China.

The brutal Chinese government retaliates , stops buying our crap, and raises the price on manufacturing for us.

Now, we have to start making crap here again, people are employed, and the money stays in the country.

all the Chinese that moved to the big city...go back to working in the rice fields.

...really scared.
God it astounds me how profoundly ignorant you are of economics. Even if it did magically happen that way and the US becomes some independent economic utopia, how do you think our economy would fair during the time we stop selling to the Chinese? It would completely tank. Then, somehow, we become an independent powerhouse from that?

God you people really need to stop voting. Let the adults vote from now on.

..If we tariff them (and we're going to), they're sunk. Where else are they gong to find a market even a 1/10 as big as ours ? Nowhere.

Well, there's the EU, the rest of Asia, Russia, South America.... the rest of the world actually
...Oh, so they're going to hit us with $3 Billion in tariffs, huh ? Well, we're hitting them with $61 Billion in tariffs, and that's just the beginning.

That's the spirit that will murica great again
We are witnessing the downfall of China, like few countries have ever dropped throughout history. Keep watching.

China has been a going concern a lot longer than the exceptional empire comrade, it would be a serious mistake to misunderstimate them. And they actually build a big, beautiful wall to keep the Mexican...eh, Mongolian rapists out

Make stuff here and you'll pay triple the price that people can afford. That boat sailed long time ago....America is a consumer and not a manufacturer.
What makes you think that prices will triple when stuff starts getting Made in USA
again ?

WE are exporting to China only 1/5 what they export to us. You think we couldn't find other places to export to ? In the event of a trade war, the country with the problem of finding a new market to export to is China, not us. They are very dependent on our big, rich market.

They're ALREADY making stuff here. Lots of companies are moving BACK into the US - GM, IBM, Hyundai, Kia, WalMart, Bayer AG, Monsanto, Carrier, Ford, Amazon, Sprint, Broadcom Limited, Lockheed Martin, etc.

Trump Effect? Companies Announce Billions in U.S. Investments, New Jobs
When I see made in America again and everything or at least 10% of the stuff we buy I'll agree with you and your orange president

Well, there's the EU, the rest of Asia, Russia, South America.... the rest of the world actually
Yeah ? Well, no place in the world has the massive market that we have. Why do you think companies in China bother to ship halfway around the world (China to US), when Russia and Asia (you mentioned) are much closer ? It's because they have practically no market compared to us, that's why. They don't have the money to buy things like we do.

God i get so sick of this America-is-superior-in-every-way crap. America and China are interdependent. If one collapses so does the other. And just who are we going to export to? China has, what, 3 billion people? How do you think our economy would fair if we just severed all economic ties? This relationship is the heart of the global economy. God you people really need to read a book for once in your life.

Did the wall keep the Mongols out?

Read Post # 26.(including the GNI map) China needs us far more (exactly 5 times as much) as we need them. Here's another graphic of significance.

And we WON'T sever all economic ties, We just 1) will deal FAIRLY with China, and 2) will return to our status as a goods producer country, instead of an abnormally larger importer.

Whatever we do, China will have to go along with us.

The problem is that 'you' don't really have the money to buy things like 'you' do either, there's a reason 'you' have $20+ trillion debt

And who do you think owns that debt?

Of course a trade war will hurt China but it will hurt the US a lot more and it really won'y make you great again

:alcoholic:

Well, we'd have to compete with China for these markets, and they'd have considerable motivation (and capacity) to undercut the USA in ANY market.
The post doesn't seem to correlate with the quote. Can you be a bit more clear ? (and connected to the quote) - My post #24

1. I couldn't disagree more. It will hardly hurt the US at all. It would destroy China. China depends on our big US market. .There is none other like it in the world. That's why they need us much more (5 times),than we need them. See the chart in Post # 31.

2. The "you" you mention is American consumers, not the govt
3. As for the debt, that gives more advantage to us - and the debt is really a bit of a joke. We've been protecting other countries from being demolished, (like China in World War II, and NATO), and we owe them ?

Neither party wants a trade war. Both parties need each other very much. That is why this will never happen. The US has been playing bitch to China for too long however and some things have needed changing for many years. China has NOT been playing by the rules. However our shitlord politicians have been allowing them to get away with this because they were getting their palms greased.

The largest holder of US debt is the US taxpayer not China.

Hyundai and Kia are American? A good share of the companies coming to the US are foreign and guess where their profits go?

There are more than 7 billion people on this planet, only some 325 million of those live in the US. You can post charts all you want but in todays globalist 'free' market economy you're really not nr1 anymore.
2. The "you" you mention is American consumers, not the govt

The murican consumers are addicted to cheap Chinese stuff and the average underpaid and overworked Amazon or McDonalds wage slave really can't afford anythings else
3. As for the debt, that gives more advantage to us - and the debt is really a bit of a joke. We've been protecting other countries from being demolished, (like China in World War II, and NATO), and we owe them ?

Eh, the US has the nasty habit of demolishing countries, not protecting them. But the debt gives you a certain advantage... up to a point, China has been very busy buying gold for a while now.... why do you think they'd do that?
