If you secede, you forfeit your SS and Medicare

Every nickel everyone in that state has paid in, and might expect to benefit from some day,

would be gone.

Did you factor that into your calculations?

No I think Lawyers would argue that Succeeding states have a right to their share of SS, and MC considering they did pay in to them.

The Idea of succession would bring up all sorts of Legal battles over the Finances alone. Does the rest of the country deserve compensation for the Resources the states that leave take with them? What about the Succeeding states share of our National Debt? Then there is the question of SS, and MC. All these things would theoretically end up being argued in court if Succession were to happen non-Violently.

Which of course will not happen.

Those who renounce citizenship can already receive Social Security. MediCare is a different story. Since MC pays for medical expenses incurred in the United States, then there wouldn't be payments for medical expenses incurred in a foreign country. Which of course is what the seceding state becomes.

There are those as well. And some don't realize the secession would not absolve the individuals from private debt also. Borrow $200,000 to buy a house and make mortgage payments then the state secedes? Private individuals would still own the mortgage company.

Secession would not make a clean slate in a situation where it was a negotiated peaceful withdrawal with Congressional approval.

If you're in the seceding state and 60+ years old, you're probably already getting it. The checks would stop, immediately.

There's your privatization of Medicare and Social Security, in its purest form. lol

Unless this is a wishful thinking thread, that is not true. Payments can continue after an individual renounces their citizenship indefinitely.

Social Security Publications

Just say'n.

This thread is a fact-free zone.

If you're going to discuss it could you at least get the fucking word right?

No one who has ever thought it would be a good idea has ever thought it through or even considered that there may be a few drawbacks. They just secede re-enslave the black folks and before long they are all Kentucky colonels sipping mint julips on the porches of their vast plantation estates.

OMG, the fucking slavery canard AGAIN??

Grow up, dummy!!

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a large majority of the people signing these secession petitions thought that it was a better time when blacks were used, and not heard.

Actually, he's still whining that King Mitt and Queen Ann-toinette's succession to the throne didn't succeed.

Sure we did, you keep all the debts and the bankrupt Social programs. That's the whole point!

It's not so much fun when you Dems have to pay for your ideas, amiright?

It's not nearly outlandish as you may think, we've outlawed forced labor in this country for close to a hundred years, it's why the conservative dream of making, forcing, welfare recipients to work for their luxurious life on the public dole is impossible. I am certain a conservative state freed of the burden of the more liberal aspects of the constitution would soon blossom with forced labor camps, debtors prisons and indentured servitude.

He thinks such money is piled high in a lock box somewhere, just waiting for us.

Humor!

It is. When's the last Social Security defaulted on an obligation?

When you secede, your state's resident's legal claim to the benefits they paid for all their lives will be null and void.

Some 60 year old guy in Texas, who has been paying into Medicare and Social Security for 40 years,

who's expecting to retire a few years and get a thousand bucks a month SS, and 80% of his medical costs covered for the rest of his life,

explain to him that when Texas becomes a 'sovereign nation',

he will be getting Zero and Zero.

The lawyers?? lol, you think the remaining United States citizens are going to agree to let their tax dollars go to pay the SS and Medicare of foreigners in the ex-states? Who is going to arbitrate that? The World Court? The United Nations?

lol
