Sic Semper Tyrannis!
I have some questions.
I never actually read the book until now. I always figured, I pretty much know what it says. That and it's being described as a VERY bad read stodgy and stilted etc, didn't inspire any ambition in that direction. But, we were cleaning and I came across a copy in some box and I was between books so I figured, what the hell, I can get something else if it sucks.
That said, I'm in the first hundred pages still and Hitler is explaining his youth and his observations from his youth that led to his political beliefs. What I'm interested in is deconstructing his contentions concerning the Jews first mentioned in these early chapters.
Some of them are outright racist and don't really deserve any time spent on them. The more interesting questions that do need some effort are:
- Hitler's contention concerning whether Jews were really the leaders of the Social Democracy movement then existing in Austria and Germany. (and its nature and character)
- Hitler's contention concerning the leadership of the newspapers especially the International press and his characterization of it.
I'm interested in comments from all who have read it. If you haven't read it, please either read and comment on his remarks or refrain from commenting. I know bringing up Hitler is an explosive topic, but hopefully this can be handled in something akin to a scholarly manner. Thanks
