For a number of years, hospitals received federal money to treat the uninsured. A good chunk of that money was reallocated to help pay for the ACA. It was one of the things that has been attributed to strains put on small and rural hospitals that see a lot of uninsured or medicaid patients.

Nope. I admit we have had socialized healthcare since it was worth the trouble to go to the hospital, Bushes, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Nicon, all of them had socialized healthcare.

BUT, My guess is he had a McJob off and on so at least we were moving the right way by forcing him to pay for insurance through tax return penalties.

Yes I agree. That is the PROBLEM. Obamacare made people pay for insurance or they were fined through their tax return. Not enough, but they were fined. My neighbors hated that.

Yeah, nothing says freedom like the government stealing from you for not buying a product they think you should have.

    The counter is:

Nothing says stealing like not carrying health insurance because you know me and the rest of society will bail you out if you need medical care.

The problem is we don't have an unhealthy and reckless lifestyle as most people. At least with car insurance just the person with the accident their premiums go up.

The flaw in your argument is you're making an assumption that just because someone doesn't have a health care plan they're incapable of paying their bills.

Second, why is it the rest of society would bail people out if they can't pay their bills? Oh, right, because the government decided to, so you're basically advocating for a government solution to a problem they created.
