A Democrat candidate canvassing a neighborhood visited a home where a litter of puppies had just been born. He jokingly asked if they were Democrat puppies, to which the kids cheerfully agreed.
Returning a few weeks later the candidate asked the kids how their little democrat puppies were doing. The kids replied, "Oh, they're Republican puppies now." "Why?" asked the befuddled candidate.
"Because" the kids giggled, "They just opened their eyes."
