"A summary of what happened in Dair al-Zoor yesterday, Saturday May 14, 2016.
At 0300 hours, number of ISIS terrorists infiltrated from the Southern entrance of the city, which leads straight to the Driving school, al-Assad hospital, local Granaries,part of University of Dair al-Zoor's old campus, and its dorms where some families are living after their houses got destroyed.
They covered their infiltration by attacking other SAA points around the city.
Units of the Syrian Arab Army stationed in Dair al-Zoor rushed to the Southern section of the city to deal with the infiltrating terrorists, after a battle that lasted for hours, the Syrian Army managed to eliminate all infiltrating terrorists, except a small group which entered the hospital and was surrounded inside.
During the battle, the Syrian Army units managed to create a safe zone, in which the the SyAAF and Syrian Artillery and MLRS can target enemy forces without causing any friendly fire.
By noon, the Syrian Army units had cleared the campus, but the advancement was slow because of the intel of ISIS terrorists holding people and doctors inside the hospital as hostages.
In the hospital, an elite force of the Syrian Army units stationed in Dair al-Zoor was called in, a force specifically trained and experiences in such operation. The units managed to enter the hospital, liberate ~50 people inside, and kill 12 terrorists without any losses.
On other fronts, ISIS attacked the 137th brigade HQ and the granaries to divert SAA units' attention from the Southern city entrance. An attach which the SAA units completely foiled. Killing dozens of ISIS terrorists, and destroying their vehicles.
Furthermore, ISIS terrorists simultaneously attacked al-Mowazafeen neighborhood trying to make their way to the airbase by a suicide truck, but SAA units there destroyed the truck before it reach any military spot. Killing the driver named Maher Dannawi, known as Abo-Suhaib the Lebanese who is a Lebanese national from Tripoli, specifically from Abi-Samra neighborhood in Tripoli.
On the Eastern axis, ISIS tried attacking al-Therdea mountain using suicide trucks and MLRS, but SAA units and SyAAF was there to destroy all of ISIS` attacking force.
Also, ISIS launched number of mortar shells onto the city of Dair al-Zoor with no civilian casualties.
All the points ISIS entered were all restored, their attack cost them hundreds of their terrorists. The Syrian Army command in the city cut all non-Military communications, and used Radio jamming devices to keep terrorists from contacting each others, or outside support."
