how will you stop someone from approaching your "fort"/bol

at night, waiting most of the next day and sniping you from 1/4 mile away? You can't run patrols. They'd just get shot and give away your presence, even if you DID have the manpower/time to waste on them. Aboveground/findable camps/buildings are not a viable answer for shtf, folks. The desperate can also rig protection (from rifle-fire) on vehicles and drive them right up to you, or sneak up at night and set your stuff afire, etc.

You'll also have crowds of unarmed women and children just hanging around your place. What you gonna do about that, shoot them? Packs of starving dogs are going to smell your food/water and hang around your place, too. Which will be noticed by humans and noisy shots at the dogs will be noticed, too.

This is the eternal problem for 'forts' and such.
It is one of the primary reason that most of the talk about preparations post-catastrophe scenarios sound so ridiculous. With very little latitude, it is not really something that can be prepared for, certainly not extensively. Only some kind of group in a naturally defensive enclave would have the slightest chance.

The people I know that I will be surviving with will not have a fort. No problem.

Finding our "houses" will be tough. Getting to them unnoticed will be tougher.

Dogs will alert and nightvision will pick you out.
