On Paul Ryan's website, there this week's "top five issues" list. It includes Russia, which has gained neocon ire for interfering in Israel's efforts to remove Basher Assad as head of Syria. It reads, in part:

As I have said before, any foreign intervention in our elections is entirely unacceptable. Mexico and Israel routinely and openly interfere in our elections. Any politician who condemns Russia for this, and has never condemned either of those two for the same thing is a cuck.

Where has Russia undermined American interests? Israeli interests, yes. (And, good!), but American? No. Any politician who conflates American interests with Israeli interests is a cuck.

Any politician who selectively cites the human rights record of a foreign country as grounds for making that country an "issue" for the American Speaker of the House is a cuck.

Any politician who can repeat neocon talking points while accusing a neocon target of harming the interest of global peace is a shameless cuck who should be horsewhipped.

Yes, Israel is currently our ally. I happen to think that in mid-20th century when performing the calculus of whom should have been made the U.S.' ally when Israel was formed, the U.S. chose the wrong nation.

Millions of people in and outside the U.S. can easily and credibly assert that the American people would be better off with Trump gone. What right have they to act upon their beliefs in that regard? In my mind, if they are not American citizens, none. My principle in that regard works both ways.

As goes Syria, I don't really care whether Assad stays or goes. I care that ISIS is eradicated. To the extent Assad is an impediment to effecting that outcome, then he needs to be removed. If he's willing to genuinely assist in that effort and not confound doing so such that he makes the U.S. appear to be or actually be unwilling parties to securing his domestic hegemony, he can stay.
