How Romney "Won" the Debate

You guys ever consider that maybe it's YOU who don't have your facts right?
Didn't think so. :eusa_whistle:

But he is, his comments and attitude last night neither match his past statements or the prevailing attitude of the republican members of congress, does anyone really believe that if a republican congress put a hefty tax cut for the wealthy on his desk he would veto it? When pigs fly.

Thats a huge "if"....

The Repubix know better than to be that stupid.

Oh, and one more thing... WTF are you idiots talking about he has been saying something else earlier in his campaign???

He sounds just like the Romney that ran in 2008 and so far in 2012. Just better versed this time.

You guys are just pissed that Obama can't shovel the same old crap and get away with it. He has a record to run on now... and it aint pretty.

Bet those mysterious donor to the Obama campaign are wondering where their investment went
:lmao:

Named for the debate tactic created by creationist shill Duane Gish, a Gish Gallop involves spewing so much bullshit in such a short span on that your opponent can’t address let alone counter all of it. To make matters worse a Gish Gallop will often have one or more 'talking points' that has a tiny core of truth to it, making the person rebutting it spend even more time debunking it in order to explain that, yes, it's not totally false but the Galloper is distorting/misusing/misstating the actual situation. A true Gish Gallop generally has two traits.

This theory is really interesting. There WAS something very different about Romney. He seemed a littlle bit frantic to me. It was very subtle, but still there. Almost as though he had memorized things he wanted to say and was going to get them out there. Maybe that's why he ignored that poor moderator!!!

It is quite apparent to those of us who have closely followed this election, that this latest sketch drawn out by Romney completely contradicts major policy ideas stumped on the campaign trail by him over the last few months. Since Obama could no longer debate the substance (or lack thereof) of Romney''s policy ideas, it threw Obama off his game. We have seen Romney do this before in the primaries. Obama needs to be prepared for it in future debates. Call it Etch-A-Sketch, call it the Gish Gallop, call it lies...it's all about the same. But it is a known debate tactic. And, like Romney, it is dishonest.

Not an Obama supporter , but agree with the above assessment. Obama is a state supremacist -- a socialist -- and he will not deviate.

Romney is a demagogue.

He used the first presidential debate to speak out forcefully to its wide television audience against the idea of cutting taxes for the wealthy, noting that “high-income people are doing just fine in this economy.” Asked if there was too much government regulation, he answered, “regulation is essential.” And he praised the Massachusetts health care bill, calling it a “model for the nation.”

I have been saying for a long time, Romney is not a conservative. He is and always has been a moderate, he learned how to reach across the isle. He knows compromise consists of input and concessions from both sides.

The guy the Obama camp wanted us to see is not Romney, it's their composite they named Romney.

So in that respect Obama won the debate by forcing Romney to admit that he is also a big government state supremacist.

The Welfare/warfare Party is fielding 2 candidates.

Romney won the debate using this technique:

Named for the debate tactic created by creationist shill Duane Gish, a Gish Gallop involves spewing so much bullshit in such a short span on that your opponent can’t address let alone counter all of it. To make matters worse a Gish Gallop will often have one or more 'talking points' that has a tiny core of truth to it, making the person rebutting it spend even more time debunking it in order to explain that, yes, it's not totally false but the Galloper is distorting/misusing/misstating the actual situation. A true Gish Gallop generally has two traits.

1) The factual and logical content of the Gish Gallop is pure bullshit and anybody knowledgeable and informed on the subject would recognize it as such almost instantly. That is, the Gish Gallop is designed to appeal to and deceive precisely those sorts of people who are most in need of honest factual education.

2) The points are all ones that the Galloper either knows, or damn well should know, are totally bullshit. With the slimier users of the Gish Gallop, like Gish himself, its a near certainty that the points are chosen not just because the Galloper knows that they're bullshit, but because the Galloper is deliberately trying to shovel as much bullshit into as small a space as possible in order to overwhelm his opponent with sheer volume and bamboozle any audience members with a facade of scholarly acumen and factual knowledge

I finally figured out why you call yourself course of history, and why every single thing you post makes no sense.

Obama lost because he's been painting Romney as something he's not and never has been. He didn't force Romney to do anything, his own lies caught up with him and he was stunned.

The debate lasted an hour and a half!!! Yet you people think that what happened in that short 90 minutes is going to change the course of the entire election!!!!

Remember he has been campaigning for president since February of 2007. As far as I know, in all that time this is the best 90 minutes he has had. The Republican party did not even want him.

In any case, guess you have to stand by your man. :)

You missed the point. In all that time I don't think he has done anything to excite the right like he did the other night. I think it was a first. That's what I meant.

Sorry... I misunderstood your post.

You are correct. I was encouraged to see him take to Obama.
I didnt think he had it in him.

I am not totally sold on Romney's policies, but he is no where near as bad as Obama.
Romney will have my vote regardless.

You think this is the best 90 minutes Obama has ever done? You might just be right.
