How long should a firearm background check take?

No more than 30 minutes. Although I have a CCP and apparently I get moved to the front of the line.

I have a CCW. I don't need to undergo a background check, my permit satisfies the federal requirement.

There are no fingerprints involved. You show a photo I.D. which is proof of citizenship and they enter your name and DOB in a computer. Maybe the system gets backed up form time to time but the actual name check should be instantaneous.
