Doug Ducey obliterated his opponent 60-40 on election night.
How.
AZ elected a democratic senator.
There has been some analysis done which makes excuses for McSallly's failure to win. Excuses are great. We've heard them from the left for the last two years.
So why bother. ?
The GOP should take note of the analysis and not committ the same mistakes.
There is talk of McSally running again in 2020. She will need a different game plan.
But, given that Ducey walked all over the dems, it seems people should understand that the senate seat that was lost was winnable.
It just depends what district it is in Arizona. Colorado this year has gone totally blue--formerly a red state that then went purple & now blue because Trump is toxic here. Anyone who had an R behind their name was taken out in competitive districts--but we still have a few Republican counties left--that are slowly changing purple.
Arizona is the same. Hispanics came out to vote like never before. Kristen Sinema--the Democrat that won this seat praised John McCain. Obviously Sinema is a blue dog Democrat who knew how to win a statewide election, while McSally stood behind Trump--and is the reason she lost. It was a war between the Republican Suburbanites against the Republican ruralites also. The suburbanites won.
That's the difference, while someone may be able to hold onto their congressional district they can't win in a statewide election.
The longer Trump is in office, the bluer this country will get.
Which totally flies in the face of the fact that Ducey totally massacred his oppoenent.
Try again.
And Sinema isn't a blue dog.
Republicans were voting for Democrats all over this country last Tuesday night. I don't know what new's your watching but it was a war between moderate Republicans living in big cities--and the suburbs against right wing Republicans living in rural areas. Republicans were bleeding house seats in Republican districts west of the Mississippi. It was brilliant. The DNC put up moderate Democrats--the JFK"s of the party aka blue dog Democrats that can appeal to moderate Republicans and it worked.
Plus the turnout was astounding for a midterm election. Young people voted, blacks, hispanic's and women literally kicked ass adding 100 more women to congress and more senate seats. Independents the largest voting block in this country, went for Trump by 4 in 2016, he lost by 17 points in 2018. Women, including Republican women choose Democrats over Republicans by a whopping 67%.
Who would have ever guessed that Ted Cruz in deep red Texas came that close to losing to a liberal Democrat? If the DNC would have put up a more moderate Democrat, Ted Cruz himself would be looking for a new job today.
So Arizona is no surprise.
It's no surprise that Ducey kicked the shit out of his democratic opponent 60 to 40 ?
What the fuck are you talking about ?
