People are misunderstood often. I think the teller was trying to express condolences and it came out wrong.
A long time ago, I was talking to the CEO of a supplier who had weathered several technological advances in his industry without making many changes in his product offering.
It was a remarkable accomplishment, in my opinion. A testament to his ability to forge strong relationships with his customers produce a product with excellence.
Well, I wanted to express that sentiment. I don't remember the exact exchange, but I used the words "still in business" at some point in the conversation.
This dude got pissed and said something like "what the fuck do you mean STILL?!!"....and hung up.
He eventually accepted my apology.
Shit happens.
