Johnson Atoll is abandoned, and already has barracks and dorms built, doing nothing. Full dining facility, doing nothing. One of the coolest places I've ever been, 825 miles southwest of Hawaii, in the middle of nowhere. If you Google Map it, you can make out the 9-hole tiny golf course on the east side of this 3 mile by 1/2 mile island. I saw Rising Sun with Wesley Snipes and Sean Connery at their outdoor movie theater, with nothing but a million stars above, no artificial lighting to hide any of it. It's always been a bird sanctuary - one of the only places they can land for hundreds of miles - and now that's all it is, since Raytheon and the Army closed it down.here's a good choice.
