It was not just Hollywood. The German American Bund or German American Federation in the 1930's was active in all states. The Bund ran over twenty recreational camps many of these with rifle ranges and gun clubs affiliated with the National Rifle Association (NRA). They had newspapers with circulations throughout the country. They held rallies with generally good attendance. In the 1939, they held a rally in Madison Square Gardens which they attracted over 20,000 people. At this rally they criticize President Roosevelt by repeatedly referring to him as “Frank D. Rosenfeld”, calling his New Deal the "Jew Deal" and denouncing what he believed to be Bolshevik-Jewish American leadership. Fights broke out between protesters ans Storm Troopers. The Nazis claimed that the Bund was supported by American dollars.
