Lately, one of the talking points from the NRA and the right has been that Hitler took everyone's guns when he came to power. That is false. Germany restricted all gun ownership while trying to rebuild after WW I. And, if you look at the timeline, gun restrictions were pretty much lifted by 1928, and one of the government groups that were allowed to have guns were the Nazis, and in 1938 (when Hitler was in power), they were further lifted. The only ones NOT allowed to have guns were the Jewish people.
