Here’s the number one concern for us Americans. Homeownership rate among young Americans is considerably lower than it was during the baby boomer era

Baby boomers, when they were younger owned homes at a considerably higher rate compared to today’s generation of young Americans. And that should be the number one concern for politicians in this country. Fix our horrible economy.

Substantially fewer of those born between 1981 and 1996 are homeowners today than Gen X and baby boomers were at the same age. Housing affordability is taking a toll on all generations, but the lack of entry-level homes and the dearth of new builds are particularly impacting millennials.”

In fact, the median cost of a typical 20% down payment was about 85% of the average millennial household's salary last year. That's considerably higher than the 75% for Gen X and 64% for baby boomers when they were the same age.”

see the numbers don’t lie. The coronavirus lockdowns which were totally unnecessary helped to worsen this problem along with Biden inflation.

Politicians want us to give all our money away to foreign countries for their wars. There are still some politicians democrat and Republicans who care…. Few and far between it seems like though.

This country ain’t what it used to be and we have work to be done. There will be those who will claim “there’s plenty of jobs to be had”, might be true but looks like they don’t make any difference. Sure people can get a job at McDonald’s or Walmart. It ain’t nothing man. Back in the day you could get a job at a steel plant Be proud of yourself contribute to this country….. and be set for life. We’ve lost millions of those jobs and they haven’t been replaced.

Law enforcement will take anybody anymore, especially corrections. They're desperate. It pays a lot better than McDonald's, and the benefits are really good too. There are lots of good jobs. People just don't want to do them.

The Washington Establishment has spent the past 50 or so years stealing TRILLIONS from the American people and there is no end in sight. The result is a far lower standard of living for the majority of citizens. Tiny Homes have exploded in popularity because our corrupt government has destroyed the American dream. America had a great run but that's over.

The median cost of a home in 1970 was $23,400.00 The median cost of a home in 2023 was $410,200.00.

The median income for all families in the US, in 1970, was $9,870. The median income in 2020 was $44,225.00.

Pay people more and they will buy homes.

The problem is that we gave away our manufacturing base to china on the advice of globslists

And imported millions of foreign workers who took jobs away from Americans

Not a problem.

Boomers have begun dying off, and this will continue for another 20 years.

At the end of this time, even with expected population increases, there will be a housing glut.

The Boomers were a once in a multi-century phenomenon, but this pestilence will pass.

No offense to Boomers. :)

The biggest enemy of our manufacturing jobs has always been automation. But as long as politicians can point to tens of thousands of minimum wage jobs they "created", nothing will change.

Thats a myth

China is making stuff for the US market using human hands not robots

If robots are the future lets design them and build them in America using American workers

But our so-called best and brightest arent even smart enough to do that

Nobody believes you are an American, Fyodor.

Actually, this is a good thing. We had a housing crash in 2008 because a lot of people who had no business owning a home got zero down loans with no assets.

The Government pushed this, and the banks went along because they figured they could always sell the repossessed homes for more money as long as home values continued to increase.

I work in manufacturing. The two biggest issues that eliminated manufacturing jobs were automation and process improvement.

The number of people working in manufacturing is dropping world wide, even in China.

That claim has no basis in fact

China is not making all the stuff it imports to the US with robots

Its using people

Anecdotally , i lost 1/3 of my body weight building my farm pre/post '08 crash....

My meat wagon mates were making fun of me

Now that i'm posting fat & happy , i'll not blame the kids

Ya gotta want it...... ~S~

The younger generation is all about instant gratification. My first house was a 2 bedroom 1 bath fixer upper on a small plot. The 20 nothing guy I work with keeps complaining that they can’t find the 5 bedroom 3 bathroom ready to go home on a two acre plot He can afford. He act’s offended if it’s suggested to look for something smaller as a starter home and work his way up.

He also got a rude awakening when he told the other boss if he didn’t get a promotion in the next 6 months he would leave (after two months of employment). He didn’t appreciate when he handed a piece of paper and said you might as well turn in your resignation letter now because that is not going to happen. He is getting a rude awaking to the real world from his sheltered life. How you going to demand your dream home your dream job and follow it up with your parents still pay for your cellphone. Those kids are screwed

But he has all those trophies he won playing No Score soccer

That's debatable.

Americans are addicted to buying vast quantities of cheap shit after all
The theme of this thread is how much Americans are struggling to achieve the American dream

I am pointing out why
