know about Obama's style of power politics: When his party controlled both houses of Congress, it took him 542 days to have the opposition's Senate leader over for coffee and a chat.

With his party also controlling both houses, George W. Bush waited all of 96 hours to have Ted Kennedy and others of his brand into the Oval Office when there was no agenda but to talk about how they would talk. Bush aides were also not empowered to call Democrats terrorists and hostage-takers.

The Democrats controlled the Senate mid-2001 to the end of 2002

Ted Kennedy did not, and never would have, said his number one priority was to make BushII a one termer.

It was not McConnells' either. That so called quote was part of a statement saying McConnell made in regards to Obamacare and other issues saying that if they did not work BO would be a one term President.

And the point of this post benny is the fact that for Jr Bush's shortcomings, he did attempt to work with the dems from time to time.

Nah Eagle. I plead as guilty as you to hyperbole. However, there was no counterpart to Bushii in the campaign against Obama that began day one

Fox's Four-Year Campaign To Make Obama A One-Term President | Research | Media Matters for America

And there's no controversey that on the eve of the inaguration 15 gopers met to discuss the one term strategy ... including Henserling and Newt.

Bushii never felt such united antipathy until Iraq.

Wrong benny, because of what happened with the FLA recount and the USSC decision the dems were never very prone to do much business with Jr. And the oppositon party's goal is to make the party in power one term.

Nonsense Eagle. Your origianal post was about Ted, and Ted did shepherd No child left behind. Bushii's first legislative fight was with JEFFORDS, A REPULICAN.

Now, had you limited your OP to the fact that Obama is an elitist who is most comfortable listening to students, and then detailing how their thinking is simplistic and not on his intellectual level .... I'd go there.

Media matters? Seriously? :lmao:

My five-year-old Grandson still believes in Santa, too.

libturds live in an echo chamber and cocoon themselves from anyone and anything that might disrupt their way of thinking.

Most of them have become so enured to outside thought... They work with people who think like them, they watch TV Stations that think like them, they have friends who think like, they read Newspapers that think like them and they just simply won't entertain any thought of any other kind of existence.

At least I was a liberal at one time. I know the thought patterns. I know the feelings of class envy and hate.

They don't know our side. Most libturds have no idea what the other side (us) are talking about.

Not only that -- They don't WANT to know. To them, theirs is the only acceptable existence.

We're talking about the dumbest motherfuckers on Earth.

All of them.

Except for the young. I'll forgive them. They're young. And not real bright

How smart were any of us at 18? Or even 25?

Some of us weren't even real bright at 30 :eusa_shifty:

But once you hit 30 years old.... It's time to wise up.

Fast.

The older libturds in here.... Hopeless losers

Uh.... dewd.

Jeffords turned traitor May 24, 2001 (on or about) and switched to the dimocrap party.

Was he a dimocrap the whole time and Bush blew his cover or -- What happened?

I know. That is why it is so entertaining when soem of them pretend to represent "the real conservatives" and parrot the shit MSNBC brainwashes them 24/7/365.

the komsomol parrots do not even know how to look for the information themselves - if there are no talking points from the headquoters - as there are none for the last 2 days on obamacare - they are LOST.
They are not able to look for themselves, compare for themselves and make conclusions for themselves.

They are masses. They should be guided. Sheeple - that is a remarcable descriptions what the leftard crowd is really about.

I guess.... In a way....

Somebody has to do something with them.

They're really not very bright, really not capable of independent thought, really don't think too hard about much of anything...

So I guess the dimocrap party has stepped in to make them feel like they 'matter'.

Which of course, they don't. ESPECIALLY to the people who have them voting for them.

They treat them worse than we EVER would.

We would at least give them some hope, a job, a possible future, a way to go through life with some pride and dignity. But they'd have to work for it and earn it.

With dimocraps in charge, they're doomed to spend their lives dependent on others for their existence.

That's no way for a Human Being to live.

But we are talking about dimocraps here, so................. :dunno:

The goal of every member of an opposition party should be to make their opponent a one termer.

That's a no brainer. What type of opposition would want an opponent to succeed and rule for two terms in the US or multiple times in other countries?

That's just idiotic.

And you know damn well that when Gore was declared the loser, and when Bush was declared the winner in the 2000 race, that the Democrats geared up immediately for 2004.

And as well they should have. They were the opposition. I would expect no less of them.

Now to address No Child Left Behind. President Bush proposed the legislation. And Kennedy was part of a bipartisan effort to craft the legislation.

Legislative history

The legislation was proposed by President George W. Bush on January 23, 2001.

It was coauthored by Representatives John Boehner (R-OH), George Miller (D-CA), and Senators Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Judd Gregg (R-NH).

The United States House of Representatives passed the bill on May 23, 2001 (voting 384–45), and the United States Senate passed it on June 14, 2001 (voting 91–8).

President Bush signed it into law on January 8, 2002.

Here is all you need to know about President Obama....

He said regarding the shutdown.....(paraphrased)....

'the lack of market angst is surprising to me. They should be concerned'

Whereas a true leader who cared about success for his country would have said....

"I am not at all surprised by the lack of concern on wall street. That is what makes America exceptional. People watch what is happening, but continue to do what they need to do to care for their livelihoods; their families; their futures...no, I am not at all surprised. I am PROUD of Americans."

The Communist Party USA used to classify their supporters into three major groups. The true believers, who actually desired the overthrow of this Republic, the fellow travelers, who were inclined to accept some communist ideals, in their desire for a socialist utopia, and useful idiots who didn't really understand what they wanted, but could be easily duped into communist campaigns.

The vast majority of modern liberal/socialists would fit the third classification. They mostly just want a free ride, and they don't really care who else has to sacrifice to give them that ride. Nor, do they care what kind of world they will leave to their grandchildren. They are self centered, selfish people, who spend way too much time worrying about others having more than they do.

Today, they are less concerned about what this shutdown will do to America, than they are about the possible political advantage they might glean from it. One sees little debate from them about the issues surrounding the shutdown. It is all about an attempt to ensure that Republicans get the blame for it. But, it takes two to tango, and it is not possible to have a one sided political impasse.
