Not only LA, but a college campus. For some reason, many of my friends are actually more conservative/libertarian leaning (not because I only befriend people in similar ideology but because that is just who I happened to meet). They are also engineers. I guess the smart kids get it more. Lol. But every professor is bordering on socialist. My history professor literally was. I bit my tongue when she said how Keynes saved Capitalism from itself, but the problems we still have today show how even those regulations are not enough.

So yes, it is not easy to make a long story short. But I get by lol. At least I can generally agree on foreign policy with people.

I was born and raised in SoCal (Lakewood/Long Beach) but the wife and I are never going back. We'll probably go to Arizona after I retire because we love the desert!

Our sailboat is in the Port of Los Angeles. We're not the "evil rich," lol. Our business went into the toilet when the economy tanked, so in order to keep our doors open, we gave up our home and took advantage of the falling prices on sailboats and made that our home instead. It was the best decision we ever made.

I am envious of those of you who were able to get out. My oldest daughter got out. They live in Utah. There are still some sane people in this "hot pocket" of Republicans here in Orange County, but as the rest of California goes, so, ultimately, will Orange County.

If that's what "the end" is going to look like, I hope we can get away before then. We did buy a shotgun a short time back, but I don't think I'll be as adept at handling it as Kurt Russell.
