It’s tough to say when our societal values shifted so dramatically, but for some reason now, government at large has decided that charity for the homeless is a crime. In a society with such stunning abundance, efforts to feed the homeless are being met with legal challenges and even police action in America. This is a disturbing trend which has been gaining steam in recent years.

The Homelessness Strategic Plan will coordinate Malibu's existing resources in a more effective way, find new opportunities to address the issue, and support the efforts of the Los Angeles region, the press release said. The grant is part of Los Angeles County's Measure H, an initiative approved by voters in March 2017 adding a 10-year, ¼ cent sales tax to help fund housing and support services for the homeless population throughout the County. The City Council unanimously approved sending a letter of support to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in support of Measure H in February 2017.

"The people of Malibu rightly recognize this as a humanitarian crisis and the City has made it a priority issue," Mayor Skylar Peak said. "We are collaborating intensively with non-profit service providers and the Sheriff's Department to support comprehensive services that really make a difference for people experiencing homelessness, while also addressing the public safety and public health impacts of homelessness on the community."

No, I get why the city banned the feeding of homeless. It’s like stray dogs or cats, if you feed them they just hang around. If you don’t want a bunch of strays hanging around, don’t feed them, and they will leave.

Then do away with welfare.

CA is practically a socialist state, a dirt sh.thole in USA and the champion of the white flight, a state without any moral and values.Socialists are equal everywhere: at first they rob the folks, than kill their moral and religion, than murder and torture folks themselves. Welcome in 1984.

BTW no one will amazed when CA pass a legislature allows imprisonment of homeless people and closing of churches supporting them.
Socialists love only own pockets, all other are enemies for them.

Private charities have been stopped from feeding the homeless because it is dangerous to the homeless. No one knows what's in the food, how it's prepared. Especially in California where the nutritional content and calories have to be in writing for every meal. The food could be spoiled, or contain allergens.

The homeless still have rights and if one has an ill effect from a supplied meal there are a dozen lawyers to sue the charity providing the food and the city for permitting the food to be served.

All of this is true, but when you really think about it, this is how it can be for any meal no matter where it has come from. Those who eat the food don't know if something bad has gone into it or not.
