Gun Deaths Are Now Outpacing Traffic Deaths In 21 States

You Gun Grabbers never quit do ya'? That's OK, we 2nd Amendment Advocates never quit either.

Prescription Drugs More Deadly Than Car Accidents, Guns, and Suicide

America is in the throes of a prescription drug epidemic. More people die every day from that addiction than gunshot wounds, car accidents, or suicide—with 100 people losing their lives daily as a result of misusing medication.
The National Institute of Drug Abuse has some pretty shocking statistics detailing just how bad America’s addiction has become. For example: the US, which holds 5 percent of the world’s population, is responsible for 75 percent of global prescription drug use; 52 million people over the age of 12 have used this medication for purposes outside of what they are intended for; enough painkillers were prescribed in 2010 to medicate every American adult every four hours for a month; over half of these pills are obtained for free from a friend or family member; there are 5.1 million abusers of painkillers, 2.2 million who illegitimately take tranquilizers, and 1.1 million needlessly popping stimulants.

They're also heavily regulated. Guns should be, at least, well regulated...you know, like it says in the 2nd Amendment.

It says the militia should be well regulated, the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Nice try though

The 2nd Amendment means whatever SCOTUS says it means at any given point in time - and the winds of change are blowing...

Picked up a few more handguns and rifles a few weeks ago.

As did I...going to pick up a Taurus Judge Tracker that I've been eyeing for awhile.

My wife also got some very nice guns for Christmas. Her birthday is tomorrow, and of course, she has her heart set on the most expensive Sig in the gun case at the local gun shop...but you know what they say...happy wife, happy life...so I suspect it's coming home with us.

Very nice.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

It doesn't get much simpler than that

Some studies say it's only a matter of time before this trend extends nationally.

More people died from guns than from motor vehicle accidents in 21 states in 2014, according to a report released this week.

The Violence Policy Center, a research group that advocates for gun safety legislation, has found in past reports that traffic fatalities have been declining due to what the organization calls "effective regulation," such as safety prevention initiatives, improved vehicle and highway design, and efforts from the government and advocacy groups. Firearm-related deaths, meanwhile, have only climbed.

The VPC analyzed the latest available data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which tallies all gun deaths, including suicides and accidents, and all fatalities in car crashes. As the number of people who die in car crashes goes down, the organization says, the number of people who die from guns is going up needlessly.

"Firearms are the only consumer product the federal government does not regulate for health and safety," VPC Legislative Director Kristen Rand said in a press release. "Meanwhile, science-based regulations have dramatically reduced deaths from motor vehicles in recent decades. It’s well past time that we regulate firearms for health and safety just like all other consumer products."

When VPC first compared firearm and traffic deaths in 2009, gun deaths exceeded fatal motor vehicle accidents in only 10 states. That number more than doubled in just six years.

How will NRA's Wayne LaPierre spin these facts?
Gun deaths and murders committed by guns are two seperate issues.
And blue states own those with high murder rates with guns.
In Leftard KKKalifornia Dems are releasing felons early and have recategorized many felonys into misdemeanors.

The 2nd Amendment means whatever SCOTUS says it means at any given point in time - and the winds of change are blowing...

Actually it means what IT says it means. Written in plain English, any "interpretation" that changes the meaning is by nature a lie.

Besides, 99% noncompliance would pretty much negate any silly arbitrary decisions by a Leftist court.

I repeat from the OP:

"Firearms are the only consumer product the federal government does not regulate for health and safety," VPC Legislative Director Kristen Rand said in a press release. "Meanwhile, science-based regulations have dramatically reduced deaths from motor vehicles in recent decades. It’s well past time that we regulate firearms for health and safety just like all other consumer products."
You want us to put seat belts on our guns? Guns ARE safe. Very rarely does one explode, usually it's from too hot a hand load.

Imagine how rich the auto industry would be if motorheads bought more vehicles after mass traffic fatalities.

Common sense legislation doesn't infringe on anyone's right to bear arms...nor is it unconstitutional.
