Grrrrrr, alrighty then......when responses are deleted during mod actions

I tried different ways to deleted it without submitting, it comes back like magic, I even left the thread then come back, it was still there, even left the forum to someplace else, come back it was still there.

I ended up erasing it, then start a new comment in place, but even then when posting the new comment, previous quoted posts were still there, making it a mess.

Secret button man.., Well hidden on the editing palette.. It's the ambiguous "tells you nothing" icon that's the 2nd to last on the right. Contains a choice to "delete draft"... It's freaking MAGIC !!!

Used to bug me also...

Of all the annoying changes & differences with the new system vs the old...…….this has to be the worst....
After taking the time, doing research and preparing a lengthy response with links and argument, when hitting submit I'm locked out of the thread because of mod action, is really irritating when the thread is locked & closed from further replies...…...but what's worse is when threads are merged, and my whole response is GONE and have to start over. I ain't playing that.....atleast in the old system, it would save my response and I could chose to either resubmit or delete as appropriate.
That has nothing to do with the new "system." While you were composing a message, the mod probably closed the thread, that is all. Copy your work, then you can either past it wherever it was moved, or somewhere else appropriate. THat is all, no big deal. Shit happens.

It DOES have to do with this new system/site change or whatever the hell happened awhile back...….and of course the mod closed the thread in order to do their action which this time was to merge threads, when it's open for replies again, whatever I had composed was lost and not retained like it was before the new site changes (not thread changes)

I'm not copying every friggin post 'just in case' it's caught in moderation

^^^^

It was at this point I thought the thread was going in the wrong direction and you all were going to begin arguing....that's when I decided to attempt to defuse things by adding some of my weird and I HOPE also charming humour :wine:

Well thank you for interjecting...……….but arguing??? Who??? ME??? nevah

No I sensed arguing was going to occur at some point and so I did an intervention of weird and I HOPE also charming humour :)

Of course your humur is charming...…..and it's worked it's magic cause I don't feel as bitchy as before. Though losing posts is still frustrating, I will deal with it,

But I'm still changing my name to JustAnotherKaren…..cause somedays I just wanna bitch
Speaking of losing posts, the new software is much improved in one other way: the old software had a glitch in it that you could spend 20 minutes composing a new thread and be all done with it, ready to hit SEND, then spot a typo in the title heading, and absent-mindedly because the title was shown in TWO places, one where you entered it and another just display, accidentally try to make the correction on the display portion, and the software would just DUMP the entire post ---- GONE, vanished, absolutely no record it ever existed, no way to go back a screen, nothing. Totally lost.

The new software seems to have fixed that.

.but what's worse is when threads are merged, and my whole response is GONE and have to start over.

Understand the frustration of getting shut out on a thread close...
But on MERGES -- there shouldn't ever be any lost posts.. If you're posting at the moment of a merge, your submission should be the LATEST post in the merged thread.

You should still be able to FIND the thread, because a "redirect link" stays in the listings for as long as the mod sets it to stay.. ( supposed to be more than an hour -- some set longer than others). Or if you have an OLD post alert to the thread you THOUGHT you posting in -- that old link should TAKE you to the new thread..

Don't think any of this changed in the new Release -- or maybe I'm not understanding here...
Flacc, that has ALWAYS been my experience anytime I was posting to a thread that got merged. Still never LOST a post because of a thread close. You still have the option of copying and saving it, then adding it somewhere else appropriate.

The above never happens to me and the below is why:

I have a photographic memory :smoke:

I have an IQ of 260.650.000.000.000 :smoke:

I am Supernatural :smoke:

I am a Ninja :smoke:
Hey, Lucy, I have a PORNOGRAPHIC PHOTOGRAPHIC memory! Every porn pic I've seen is somehow embedded in my somewhat scrambled mind. But in my case, virtually ALL of these pics are pleasing to the eye of my memories!

OMG! Me too, I also have a pornographic photographic memory.

I have a pornographic photographic memory AND I'm a Ninja :dev2:

Therefore this:

VERY cool! I, unfortunately, am NOT a ninja.
That's just what a ninja would say............

Well it did get deleted and is nowhere to be found. First time I hit submit, I got the little window 'Oops you can't do that' and when I hit submit again, I was redirected to the thread it was merged too...….but my post wasn't there. Just poof, gone. So is there a way to get a 'save draft' button that would save your post when either something like that happens (lock out or merges) OR if you have to leave for whatever reason without submitting until later???

And BTW...........can we talk about the name change??? JustAnotherNut to JustAnotherKaren????? :D

The default is that draft are saved.. In fact, people complain about getting rid of drafts that they've aborted and I just responded to that above..

I'm thinking the problem is that after a merge, the drafts are wiped.. But I have no evidence that anything would be lost in merge.. It's just damn hard to find it.. No matter when the mod hits merge, all posts from that point on SHOULD GO to the new combined thread..

Next time this happens, if it does, just go to the merged thread and look at the END of the thread 5 minutes before and after the time you posted. If it's NOT there, take a screen shot and send it to me..

And "JustAnotherKaren" is a name reserved for members with bigger meltdowns than you have.. LOL....

Well...…that sounds like a challenge dammit and if I don't get that name then I'll take it to the Supreme Court!!!! :hyper: (<me throwing a tantrum)

I do agree about posts not going away, but I haven't had that issue with the new upgrade, only in the old one...…….and apparently my 'default' is broken. But I'll keep an eye on it for future reference......or in other words, you haven't heard the last of me!!!

Not saying you didn't lose stuff here. I believe you.. I lose posts sometimes even without closures or merges because I have too many tabs open and can't find the right one where my "edit window" was...

If you do go "gangster style" and plan any meltdowns, I want advanced tickets..

While it's true the dingleberries around here can get on my last nerve in a big way...…..I'm coming to the conclusion it's just too damn much work & effort to go gagsta when it does no good and they keep doing the same shit day after day, post after post, thread after thread...…..like programmed robots.

I mean really....I could be doing my nails or something much more productive
