Ground Invasion Coming Soon

If we will have a ceasefire now, for Israel it would be disastrous
m0921.gif

Can somebody please explain why Lipush says a ceasefire now for Israel would be disastrous?

Thank you in advance! :)

in this week, before the operation started, there were more than 150 missiles fired to the south, harming civilians, that was after IDF attack which was provoked by Palestinian fire on IDF vessel.

The decision to go on this operation happened on Tuesday evening, the IDEA was crushing Hamas in a way that it will understand that it should not fire rockets for a long period of time (AKA the time after Cast Lead).

What happened this week?

over 900 launches toward south Israel. instead of removing the rocket threat so that it will be no longer, instead of crushing Hamas in a painful manner, we got missiles on Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Hamas said ceacefire will happen only when the blockade is removed and the passages opened. The fact that Hamas puts conditions still, says for itself, Hamas didn't budje and doesn't feel any obligation or needed stragedy to stop its war crimes against Israeli civilians.

IF we stop now, not only we didn't get to the point in which we wanted to (Even though we hurt the Hamas' launchers, it still has many more weapon, including long range missiles), but we cause Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to be in line of fire, without FORCING Hamas to stop the fire.

It's suicidal to stop this now. in two weeks, again we will be facing the same "round" with Gaza, but it will be Hertzliya and Netanya there to.

AGAIN Bibi jumps into the pool and then jumps out when the world interferes. AGAIN humiliating his country and thiking of outside opinions more than the welfare of southerners.

We have BEEN there.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different outcome.

So why do you think there will be a ceasefire soon?

Because it is all the Israeli media speaks of, this evening. Israel to agree to ceasefire, apperently in the next 36 hours.

Southerners are fuming. Honestly, I speak with many people, we're all upset. We feel humiliated. if that is the result, it would have been better if he didn't do all this in the first place.

75,000 soldiers to go south? "We will bring Hamas to its knees"? "change the balance in the south"?

And after 4 days, after 4 killed and Dozens of injured, when Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in line of fire, after all this, and they tell us they give up? It's outrageous.!

The leaders never say it out in the open, the simply let the media do the job.

They never go on screen and talk to the nation directly when ceasefires occure.

You are quite correct! and I was fully aware of having another "temporarily" truce with all its dangers. This matter has to be settle once and for all.

I was only considering the Israeli injuries which may have to be sustained in a current showdown.

But it is clear this situation has to be permanently addressed.

A very good analysis, Lipush, and sadly, you are right, IMHO.

I can understand your anxiety, but from what I have read, all the major political parties, including Yesh Atid and Labor, support the current operation and none of the political leaders have said anything that indicates a ceasefire will be considered before the goals of the operation have been met. I don't think Netanyahu will agree to a ceasefire unless Hamas is willing to make serious concessions and they don't seem to be anywhere close to that yet.

Guys, there is no ground invasion, and won't be. In the next 24 hours we're expected to enter a ceasefire.
I hope you're right.
Uri Avnery seems to agree:

"How will it end? It would be foolhardy to guess. Wars have their own logic. Stuff happens, as the man said.

"Binyamin Netanyahu and Ehud Barak, the two men in overall command, hope the war will wind down once the main aims are achieved. So there will be no reason to employ the army on the ground, enter the Gaza Strip, kill people, lose soldiers.

"Deterrence will be restored. Another truce will come into force. The Israeli population surrounding the Strip will be able to sleep soundly at night for several months. Hamas will be cut down to size.

"But will this whole exercise change the basic situation? Not likely."

Do you agree with him?

I wish the cowardly IDF would send ground forces into Gaza.

Because the Hamas freedom fighters will trap them and then decimate.
Wow, you really think so? Denial is not a river in Egypt, but to Muslims, it is. LOL

you say that like it's a bad thing.
Ya got to remember that Juden Jillian hates goyim............especially arab goyim.
Whereas Muslims consider all infidel non-Muslims "kufars" (sinners) that must either submit to Islam, be killed, or pay a special apartheid filthy Shariah tax. That's your religion of animals in a nutshell.

Let's hope so! fingers crossed!

Moshe Dayan may have answered your question over forty years ago when he told his Labor Cabinet what Israel's message to the Palestinians really was: we must tell the Palestinian refugees in the territories that we have no solution, you shall continue to live like dogs, and whoever wishes may leave, and we will see where the process leads.

Apparently it leads to Gaza and Area C.

For those reasons there won't be a ceasefire. The genie is out of the bottle now, and Hamas is going to get smashed. Israel has already targeted and hit a few Hamas buildings. Even the US knows this is going to escalate into an invasion now. That's why Obama is quiet and has only announced his support for Israel.

It might. When Sharon severely weakened and humiliated Arafat's government, despite objections from virtually the entire world, including the US, the other PLO leaders finally decided that violence was no longer in their best interests and began security cooperation with Israel. If Netanyahu does the same to the Hamas leadership, it is not unreasonable to expect a similar result.

As I recall that "security arrangement" Arafat agreed to was partially paid for by US taxpayers.
Given the current US economy it doesn't seem too likely Israel will reap the same reward for its policies of "creeping annexation" and "creeping transfer."

Not only has the WH given robust support for the current operation, but both houses of Congress have passed near unanimous resolutions in support of Israel. The US government will enthusiastically embrace the same kind of security cooperation agreement that exists in the West Bank.
