If the GOP House does vote for the 5 billion this week, then it falls
on Schumer to stop the funding.

If they don't and the Govt does get shutdown, it will fall in Pelosi's
lap in January to get the Govt open for business.

Trump knows he's got a winning hand here. He will not cave in and
the Dems will have to get it back open again.

Lets just understand something about a government shutdown, only "non-essential" government functions are shut down, everything else goes on as usual, those who are shut down do not lose pay, they get all back pay when they go back to work.

but more importantly, if they are non-essential, why do they exist at all? Why not send them home permanently?
