Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels elicited several hushed gasps and raised eyebrows late last week as he lectured a
AP
conservative crowd that it was “time to let Ronald Reagan go.”

The governor delivered his remarks to a room full of fellow red-staters at the Fund for American Studies’ annual conference and donor retreat at the Newseum.

“Nostalgia is fine and Reagan’s economic plan was good,” Daniels said. “But we need to look towards the future rather than staying in the past.” Daniels added that the GOP needed to work on uniting behind Sen. John McCain instead of constantly comparing the Arizona senator with the Gipper.

While he prefaced his remarks with the disclaimer that his thoughts were “somewhat controversial,” he hoped that he “would not be misunderstood.”

Incidentally, applause was somewhat less enthusiastic as he left the stage than when he began by poking fun at Barack Obama.

I don't personally see what's so great about Reagan. He's always referred to as some type of icon of conservatism, but if you ask me, he left a lot to be desired.

He was a better actor as president than he was an actor as an actor.

When you can read and project as well as he did, people assume you must be the great constipator or whatever they called him.

Yeah, now that's the approach that is going to win us over….whatta dumbshit.

The only reason that Juan McPain the RINO looks even remotely appealing is that he's up against one of the most far left liberals ever spawned by the Democrat Socialists....

...but then maybe Hill the Pill will be the medicine to swallow…..

My interpretation of Smeagle's logic:

Hmmmm? A war hero, a black guy or a broad??

Come on now, that's a no brainer!!!

Looks like whining eagle is having another bad day....

I still find it amusing that someone who's never done anything for his country or anyone else can't manage to use people's proper names simply because they disagree with his ignorant little constructs....

What a maroon... :cuckoo:

Actually I'm having a fine day today. Hillary just smacked down Obama.

and I know you don't find my using alternative names amusing at all...talk about whining...:eusa_whistle:

I'm fine with Hillary beating Obama too... but it's good to have two strong candidates.

You guys have the one that most of you don't even like... :eusa_whistle:

But someone who served his country and stayed at the Hanoi Hilton for 5 years deserves his real name to be used.... regardless of what you think of his politics...

And no, I don't find it amusing, but that's not whining. It's an observation about *your* whining... :eusa_hand:

In Smeagle's defence, I find it very amusing.

Whether it's McLame, McStain, McWalker, Shillary, Billary or Macaca Obama bin Lyin. It's all good.

Oh, is that the "rule"? You laying down "the rules" now? Figures. Libs are notorious for that. The Constitution never stops you guys from strangliing free speech.

I give the guy all the credit he deserves for serving our country. However, he is in the world of politics now. The appellation I give him refers to his political stances.

"Juan" refers to his abysmal stance on illegal immigation.

"McPain" refers to the painful legislation that he has supported over the years.

RINO is self-explanatory.

Rule? No. You have every right to make yourself look like an imbecile. I get to comment on it because that's what messageboards are for.

I know why you call him what you do... still silly and whiny. Aren't you capable of commenting on his politics?

Besides, you should love him now given he has the whole theocratic thing down and is all kissy kissy huggy huggy with the Bob Jones U crowd.

Name-calling again? That's what you always do when you have nothing of value to say.
