Swedish make great musicians oddly. Not sure why, it just seems like it.
 
Yes, a lot of the best bands are from Sweden. Opeth being at the top of the list.

Opeth is friggin' AWESOME. Sweden's got a bunch of those types of bands, along with Norway and Finland, you know more melodic death metal or classical-influenced black metal. It's a good sound. Always liked Dark Tranquility, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Emperor, etc. Fins have got their fair share of good power-metal too.

Haven't gotten much into Tiamat, but I'll give these a listen.

I've seen Opeth play live 4 times, most recently in October. Great shows (in the last one they were with Baroness and High on Fire).

I've seen In Flames once. They were good too but I like their old stuff better than their new.
