The first is that the original so-called "long form" birth certificate — described by Hawaiian officials as a "record of live birth" — absolutely exists, located in a bound volume in a file cabinet on the first floor of the state Department of Health. Fukimo said she has personally inspected it — twice. The first time was in late October 2008, during the closing days of the presidential campaign, when the communications director for the state's then Republican governor, Linda Lingle (who appointed Fukino) asked if she could make a public statement in response to claims then circulating on the Internet that Obama was actually born in Kenya.

She later put out another public statement in July 2009 — after reviewing the original birth record a second time.

"Why would a Republican governor — who was stumping for the other guy — hold out on a big secret?" she asked.

But Wisch, the spokesman for the attorney general's office, said state law does not in fact permit the release of "vital records," including an original "record of live birth" — even to the individual whose birth it records.

But if he or anybody else wanted a copy of their birth records, they would be told to fill out the appropriate state form and receive back the same computer generated "certification of live birth" form that everybody else gets — which is exactly what Obama did four years ago.

This man has been slandered and put through the wringer by Republicans who have no respect for Obama's family, for minorities, for the law. Hell, the GOP tricked America into war and hid the cost. Is there anything they won't do? It's because they feel they are "moral" and "patriotic" that the rules don't apply to them. Republicans are an embarrassment to the US.

Governor Abercrombie ran on the promise that he'd show everyone Obamas' B.C. but after he was elected he ran away screaming!

"I can't find it!" he said!

But I'm sure Obama will put all these rumors to rest by just showing everyone his B.C. real soon. Yep. Now it's coming out that Obamas' real name might be Steve Dunham, based on the Social Security number he got from Connecticut.

The plot thickens as Liberal heads explode!

If the BC is in a bound volume, let the birthers choose one person to go and inspect it and report back.

Personally, I think Obama not releasing anything is the smartest thing he can do.

Why waste resources attacking the enemy when they're doing quite well making fools of themselves?

I wish conservatives would drop this idiotic bullshit. It's an election loser, not a winner.

Its the equivalent of Kerry in 2004 running on a troofer platform.

No. The Manchurian Candidate and his handlers have spent millions of dollars making sure we never find that out.

Kerry and Bush showed everyone their mediocre grades. Why doesn't O show us all of those A's?

Yea, me too. We already know Harvard is sleezy. They jumped unqualified Bush over thousands more qualified because of "daddy's connections". How dishonest can you be?

Of course, Obama didn't have any connections. He didn't use "Affirmative Action" like Clarence Thomas, and took out tens of thousands in student loans that he only paid off after his first best seller came out. There must be something wrong with him. Giving the appearance of being honest? The current Speaker of the House gave out bribes on the house floor just before an important vote. Now HIM, you can "trust".
