GOP senators seek go-slow approach on health care - Yahoo! News

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An odd couple of Republican senators have hit the road, arguing for a go-slow approach to President Barack Obama's push to revamp health care.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and 2008 presidential nominee John McCain are headlining the GOP's answer to the raucous town hall meetings of August in which congressional Democrats had to shout over angry constituents about health care, growing deficits and the increasing role of the federal government.

Yeah, because we've only been talking about health care reform since the 90s. Give it time dammit! What's the hurry!?!?

I mean, besides the people in need, and the nation bankrupting costs and stuff...

Take it slow and do nothing, the typical Republican answer. Of course, the Democrats answer may not be much more appealing, so Republicans say take it slow just to stop the Democrats plan. But damnit, where have the Republicans been on this issue over the last decade besides supporting the status quo?

I believe their meetings were by invitation only.

The GOP has no power. If the Democrats want to pass a health care bill, they can do it without the GOP's support. What is Obama waiting for?

Probably for a magic genie to transform the world into one where he controls the votes of every single Democrat in the Senate and Congress just because they have "D"s next to their names.
