GOP Platform To Call For Constitutional Ban On Abortion: Report

Democrats have to work fast to convince people that there's going to be a position to outlaw abortion in the GOP platform when there isn't. Maybe it will confuse people enough to ignore the position in the democrat platform that would legalize same sex marriage when there is.

Republicans have been against abortion in the case of rape since 1976.

Now we are shocked, shocked I say that gambling is going on in here.

As shocked as you were when Scott Walker was finally indicted, arrested, tried and found guilty of.... oh wait...

never mind.

Maintaining The Sanctity and Dignity of Human Life

Faithful to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence, we assert the inherent dignity and sanctity of all human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution, and we endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children. We oppose using public revenues to promote or perform abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it. We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity and dignity of innocent human life.

We have made progress. The Supreme Court has upheld prohibitions against the barbaric practice of partial-birth abortion. States are now permitted to extend health-care coverage to children before birth. And the Born Alive Infants Protection Act has become law; this law ensures that infants who are born alive during an abortion receive all treatment and care that is provided to all newborn infants and are not neglected and left to die. We must protect girls from exploitation and statutory rape through a parental notification requirement. We all have a moral obligation to assist, not to penalize, women struggling with the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy. At its core, abortion is a fundamental assault on the sanctity of innocent human life. Women deserve better than abortion. Every effort should be made to work with women considering abortion to enable and empower them to choose life. We salute those who provide them alternatives, including pregnancy care centers, and we take pride in the tremendous increase in adoptions that has followed Republican legislative initiatives.

Respect for life requires efforts to include persons with disabilities in education, employment, the justice system, and civic participation. In keeping with that commitment, we oppose the nonconsensual withholding of care or treatment from people with disabilities, as well as the elderly and infirm, just as we oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide, which endanger especially those on the margins of society. Because government should set a positive standard in hiring and contracting for the services of persons with disabilities, we need to update the statutory authority for the AbilityOne program, the main avenue by

We support mandatory sentencing provisions for gang conspiracy crimes, violent or sexual offenses against children, rape, and assaults resulting in serious bodily injury.

• Gang rape, child rape, and rape committed in the course of another felony deserve, at the least, mandatory life imprisonment.

you notice it is always the left CLAIMING the right wants to outlaw all abortions, but the right never actually tries to outlaw it?

you cant spell liberal without L-I-E

"Faithful to the 'self-evident' truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed," the GOP platform states, according to CNN. "We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children."
Sheer idiocy and ignorance.

And hypocrisy.

What happened to ‘let the states decide’? Supporters of this ‘amendment’ seek to expand the power of the Federal government and diminish our civil rights. It would seem local communities are allowed to enact measures representative of their values only when such measures conform to rightist dogma.

Uh Roe V. Wade.

And if they can get something like this passed (which will happen when hell freezes over), then it will be indisputable.

There is no such thing as "pro choice" that's like saying I am pro murder. I am pro life except in cases of rape, incest,or mental or physical problem with mother or child, and when mother or child's life may be in danger.

And yet you did not mind when the the right to chose by the States was taken away by the Federal Government, go figure.

As predicted yet ANOTHER thread

Have you ever been raped? Pregnant because of rape? Your mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, next door neighbor, co-worker, that nice lady down the street, friend and/or someone you have never met and do not know - raped and/or pregnant because of rape?

Are there ANY women in your life for whom you care deeply?

Do you believe that this issue touches only women?

IOW, if you do have a stake in this, listen up and learn.

If not, SHUT UP.

But, even if you believe you do not have any reason to care, YOU DO because its YOUR Constitution they're working over.

How much slicing and dicing does the R have to do before people wake up and object?

Contraceptives are much cheaper and less traumatic than abortions or unwanted births.

Contraceptives should be FREE to any woman who wants them!

And how do you propose to pay for all those "free" contraceptives?

And what about men? Why can't men get them if they want them, are you sexist?

Of course, all of this is ignoring common sense though. If you can't afford a cheap box of rubbers and you don't want a kid, don't have sex. You're acting as though protected sex is a right that shall not be infringed by charging money for the cost of producing it.
