GOP on equal pay for women: Women busier, men better negotiators.

In other words, you have no answer.

in other words; you fail to ask yourselves the same questions when making the same accusations against others

hypocrite

Could you give me an example before you start your name calling?

i gave you several examples; women IN OBAMA'S CABINET make less than the men. they are Cabinet-level postions; similar

you responded with the same kinds of questions asked by Repubs that you dismiss when you need to pander about a "war om women"

ur a joke; why dont you go cry?

Ted Kennedy ran off and let a woman die in his car, and Bill Clinton sexually harassed and possibly raped several women.

The lefties say we have a war on women but the actual body count is squarely on the left.

It's a myth that women only get .70 on the dollar compared to men.

It's Time That We End the Equal Pay Myth - Forbes

The wage gap statistic, however, doesn’t compare two similarly situated co-workers of different sexes, working in the same industry, performing the same work, for the same number of hours a day. It merely reflects the median earnings of all men and women classified as full-time workers

GOP on equal pay for women: Women busier, men better negotiators.

The reason given why the GOP is against the Lily Ledbetter Act.

Will that really work out for the GOP?

This may serve as the firewall that keeps the senate in Democratic hands like it did in 2012 & 2010 & ...

LOL. Don't even go there.

You do know about the Equal Pay Act of 1963, right? So why do we need a redundant law like the Lilly Ledbetter Act? Oh, I know, it's nothing a political stunt, trying to bait Republicans into a "you hate women" trap. Nice try.

We aren't against the law because we hate women, we were against it simply because it was pointless.

Then again, that post of yours made no sense at all.

Actually, that would be because the Equal Pay Act has a limit of 180 days from the date of employment for you to complain, and the Lilly Ledbetter Act places no such limitations on when she can file a complaint, because sometimes (like in Ms. Ledbetter's case), she had been working at the company for several years before she found out that she was getting paid less for doing the same job, which means that she couldn't have brought a suit against her employer, because the expiration date of 180 days from date of employment had long since passed.

Speaking of why do we need redundant laws, I'm still wondering why the GOP has to pass yet another law banning federal funding for abortions, when it's been done over a dozen times already.

Why did the GOP find a need to repeal Obamacare, not just once, but over FIFTY FUCKING TIMES?

Especially when Boehner and the other Republicans ran on the mantra of "jobs, jobs, jobs", and they didn't do any kind of legislation to help with that problem, they just passed more abortion bills, voted against Obamacare and named post offices?

Here ya go..............................

Texas Republican Party Executive Director Beth Cubriel argued on Monday that women should stop using laws like the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help them achieve equal pay, and that they should become “better negotiators” like men instead.

In an interview over the weekend, Cari Christman, who leads the GOP political action committee RedState Women, told WFAA that equal pay lays were not “practical” because women were “extremely busy.”

“We don’t believe the Lilly Ledbetter Act is what’s going to solve that problem for women. We believe that women want real-world solutions to this problem, not more rhetoric,” she said. “If you look at it, women are… extremely busy, we lead busy lives… And so when we look at this issue, we think, what’s practical?”

On Monday, YNN’s Capital Tonight asked Cubriel to explain why the Republican Party opposed equal pay laws.

“Is it really fair to clog up the courts with litigation that you can take through another avenue?” she asked. “And put that ahead of litigation that can only go through the state courts? I don’t think so.”

Cubriel asserted that the solution to fair pay was for women to become more like men.

“Men are better negotiators,” she remarked. “And I would encourage women, instead of pursuing the courts for action, to become better negotiators.”

The problem is that your premise is flat out untrue.

There really is no gender gap in pay scales.

Your spidey sense is obviously flawed when it comes to pay scales.

Women earn about 78 to 82 percent of what men do.

Google is your friend. You should use it before spewing a bunch of bullshit.

It's Time That We End the Equal Pay Myth - Forbes

The wage gap statistic, however, doesn’t compare two similarly situated co-workers of different sexes, working in the same industry, performing the same work, for the same number of hours a day. It merely reflects the median earnings of all men and women classified as full-time workers.

The Department of Labor’s Time Use Survey, for example, finds that the average full-time working man spends 8.14 hours a day on the job, compared to 7.75 hours for the full-time working woman. Employees who work more likely earn more. Men working five percent longer than women alone explains about one-quarter of the wage gap.
There are numerous other factors that affect pay. Most fundamentally, men and women tend to gravitate toward different industries. Feminists may charge that women are socialized into lower-paying sectors of the economy. But women considering the decisions they’ve made likely have a different view. Women tend to seek jobs with regular hours, more comfortable conditions, little travel, and greater personal fulfillment. Often times, women are willing to trade higher pay for jobs with other characteristics that they find attractive.

Men, in contrast, often take jobs with less desirable characteristics in pursuit of higher pay. They work long hours and overnight shifts. They tar roofs in the sun, drive trucks across the country, toil in sewer systems, stand watch as prison guards, and risk injury on fishing boats, in coal mines, and in production plants. Such jobs pay more than others because otherwise no one would want to do them.

Unsurprisingly, children play an important role in men and women’s work-life decisions. Simply put, women who have children or plan to have children tend to be willing to trade higher pay for more kid-friendly positions. In contrast, men with children typically seek to earn more money in order to support children, sometimes taking on more hours and less attractive positions to do so.

Academics can debate why men and women make these different choices. The important takeaway, however, is that there are many reasons that men and women on average earn different amounts. It’s a mistake to assume that “wage gap” statistics reflect on-the-job discrimination.

Women have many reasons to celebrate today. Women are increasingly taking on leadership roles in businesses around the world. Technology is increasingly creating more flexible work arrangements, creating new options for parents to combine work and family life. Women are excelling academically (earning far more college degrees than men). Given that the economy tends to place a premium on education, we can expect women to contribute (and earn!) more in the future.

Feminists may protest, but American women aren’t the victims of a sexist economy. It’s time to declare an end to the Equal Pay Day myth.

Maybe you should learn a little bit about statistics.
