I saw the movie last night and it was very good. The only reason I have trouble calling it epic, or awesome is that it wasn't what I expected. I was expecting the original Godzilla. Still I will see it again, possibly even two more times.

Certainly the best movie I've seen so far this year.

No, I wear glasses and its hard to watch 3d with glasses on. I personally don't think 3D is necessary.

Horrible movie. So many plot holes it is ridiculous. And the worst collective acting you will see in your lifetime. My god the acting was atrocious. Even the editing and continuity sucked.

I actually fell asleep for about half an hour during this movie. I seriously considered asking for a refund.

Kids under 12 will love it, though.

Thank goodness. After the Matthew Broderick boondoggle, I thought the franchise would never recover.

Godzilla - Rotten Tomatoes

Terrible when America's cutest twenty something year old teen is upstaged by a computer graphic...But Lucas and his family fortune offering of three more Star Bores films where Jar-Jar Binks is taken out of the third movie because the character received the highest positive feedback.

This review nailed it:

A lot of money was spent on this yawn-athon, and a lot of gifted writers worked on the script, among them, unbelievably, Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, "The Walking Dead" — which he created!). Beats me completely how a talent like that could produce characters, storylines and dialogue this generic.

If devastation porn is your cup of tea, this is the picture for you. That's all it has to offer. No characters who are developed enough to care about, no narrative coherence, no tweaks to the genre, not so much as a suggestion of humor, and zero metaphors. Just monster-on-monster, building-bashing action like you haven't seen since maybe last week.

Plot holes in a movie where dinosaurs & humans exist at the same time? Say it ain't so

Godzilla is not a dinosaur.

I'm torn about seeing it or waiting for my next airplane trip.

If this turns out to be another "Pacific Rim" (which we rented on Amazon) my girlfriend would kill me.

For the record? "Pacific Rim" was better than sleeping pills. Had me fast asleep. My girlfriend, however, watched the whole thing. She hasn't let me live it down.

Ugh, I hope it's better than Pacific Rim! That movie was just horrible.

I get that a giant monster movie isn't going to be something to win academy awards or break new ground in writing or acting....but that doesn't mean such a movie should just take the first script available and run with it to free up more time for CGI.
