But in America, we don't talk about the "common man" we talk about the working class, or the middle class, which includes everyone in America who is not homeless on the streets, or on the other end, doesn't have at least a million dollars in the bank. But people in California who have homes worth $600,000 still consider themselves middle-class, because that home is a small three bedroom house in a middle-class neighborhood.
And what's happening now is that the great mass of Americans who are not dirt poor or rich are rebelling against the government. My Chinese friend from law school would call it a "white riot."
When whites riot it's because they are so pissed off that they are not thinking things through anymore. Proposition 13 in California was a white riot. Proposition 187 was a white riot. And now, the candidacy of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump is a white riot. Basically, when white riot, they don't burn down buildings, they burn down things they hate that the elite have imposed on them, like high property taxes (Proposition 13), or millions of illegal aliens (Proposition 187), or in this year, a bad economy that hasn't recovered in more than seven years (and millions of illegal aliens to take their jobs away from them).
Obama and the elite class in both parties have created this white riot with their refusal to fix what's wrong with America and the common man's fall from middle class to poverty. The only people who have prospered during this time are Wall Street investors, who have grown rich while everyone else suffers. And with the investor class paid off, the politicians did not do anything for the rest of us, because they felt they didn't have to. They thought we were powerless to do anything, and at this point they are scrambling to save themselves from the wrath of Trump and Bernie.
Hillary, the establishment candidate of the Democrats, and Kasich, Bush, Rubio the establishment candidates of the Republicans, at this point it looks like they have no chance against the scorched Earth strategy of Trump, and Bernie's hammering on Hillary for her Wall Street connections.
This will lead to complete disaster. Neither Trump or Bernie has any clue how to be an effective President. Trump has burned so many bridges that's its hard to figure out who in Congress will work with him to get things done. Bernie is a clueless socialist, who thinks he can wave a magic wand to give people free stuff and $15 minimum wage. None of his ideas will go anywhere in a Republican controlled Congress. If either of them start using executive orders to bypass Congress, we will have gone further down the road towards tyranny.
And then there's the rest of the world. They will see Trump as a raving lunatic, and they will see Bernie as a weakling like Jimmy Carter. We will have four more years of chaos, and it's very possible an all out war starts, that would suck us in because of all our alliances. It could happen in Europe, it could happen in the Far East, and it could happen in the Middle East, or all three of these regions at one time. We are not ready for a war that big, and they would have to bring back the draft. And my son, and your husband, brother, or son, could die in that war.
I have no optimism that things will get better. The candidacy of Trump crushed all my hopes that a normal Republican could get elected President. The base of both parties don't want a normal person now, they want someone who will make crazy promises because they are so pissed off that they've become crazy too.
