    Sounds grim.

While I have little doubt that the reports are accurate, I do have some doubts about long term projections based on trend line analysis.

Now that isn't a good thing.

It doesn't mean that I think that things won't be that bad, necessarily, or that I think things will be much worse than projected, either.

What it means is that I KNOW that the system is so damned complex that we cannot know the outcomes in the long run.

Chaos theory...it's not just breakfast for math geeks, anymore.

Well, right now, the 'alarmists' have been missing the mark pretty much on the whole affair. They have been far to optimistic.

We are seeing the ice melting and moving at a far faster rate than we thought possible.

The ocean clathrates are already starting to outgass in the North Atlantic and the Artic Ocean. And we can measure the result now in our atmosphere.

Because we obviously do not understand all the complexities involved, we are hoping for a negative feedback that we are not seeing at present.

However, as you pointed out, choas reigns. A change of state in the climate, and things get real interesting, fast!

    Don't worry guys

We'll all be long gone before the planet dies.

The planet is not going to die. But we are already in the Sixth great extinction event. And that could culminate in the extinction of certain species of naked apes.

    So we're all gonna die.

Everybody dies. Why should humans be any different?
