Germans of present don't have the spirit of those times.
For a long time 'patriotism' / 'nationalism' was socially unacceptable in post-WW2 Germany.
But the youth increasingly becomes more patriot. No doubt.
Success in international sports events and the economic crisis in Europe seems to fuel this trend.

And it is not correct to imply, that the Russian side suffered more then the German side in the Battle for Berlin.

1945 Berlin was 2.7 Million people (4.3 Million in 1939).
Two-third of them women, the men were either youngsters or grandpas.

Based on contemporary hospital reports and on surging abortion rates in the following months, it is estimated that up to two million German women were raped during the last six months of World War Two, around 100,000 of them in Berlin.

The Soviets had human and material loss in Battle of Berlin, but look at the pictures of Berlin.
A lot of infrastructure was destroyed, which you have also count as 'German loss'.
