Georgia's Stone Mountain, a site that once hosted Ku Klux Klan cross-burnings and remains a home for Confederate tributes, will soon be adding a very different symbol: a tower in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

According to CNN affiliate WSB, the tower will feature a replica of the Liberty Bell and give literal representation to a line from King's "I Have a Dream" speech: "Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia."

"The Georgia chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans was unhappy with the MLK proposal, saying the tower would be "in contradistinction to the purpose for which the park exists and would make it a memorial to something different."

Too bad !!! Your days are over

How much do you want to bet it will be made by someone who is NOT black? It would sure be nice if you guys could work with US on occasion. We bend over backwards for you and get nothing but violence in return.

No doubt it will be built by a Chinese company that submits the low bid.

But meanwhile, it's gratifying to learn that the left seems to be learning that by ADDING rather than destroying they might win some brownie points.

I'll still celebrate Robert E. Lee Day the 3rd Monday in January.

Are you that ignorant? Really?

As a Georgia native who has visited Stone Mountain many times I call bullshit. The carving on the side of the mountain is a historic memorial of the civil war. It is not racist.

Very fitting a tower ABOVE and on top of that confederate monument.

In less then another 50 years that confederate "monument" will be chiseled off the face of that mountain anyway

Losers should never been allowed to put monuments up.

Figuring out what to do with Confederate monuments will not be quick or easy. African-Americans and others who regard the Confederacy as a particularly vile chapter in their bitter history should not be expected to endure publicly sanctioned symbols that glorify .

If losers ought not be allowed to erect monuments, then we should tear all the Indian bullshit down, including the federally subsidized casinos.

Damn, goono, you are pretty fucking harsh.

Good place to put a statue of America's biggest blowhard, somewhere where no one will see it. Perfect.
