General Robert E. Lee, the Man for these Hard Times

I get it..."tRumpH maN bAd... Duuuhhh MockReeSy!" Pure mindless drivel.
As I understand it, Lee was torn between loyalty to State and Country. Trump has always been loyal to Trump and the number of honorable things Trump has done ("done" not "said") is... Help he out here, I can't think of any.

He made America the biggest energy exporter in the worlds and did more than anyone in recent history to secure our borders. How many more things do you want me to list?

The South seceded because they wanted to protect their right to slavery. Read the Articles of Secession for each state and the Confederate Constitution
Look at the totality of the circumstances, not just what suits you.

Please look up the word 'honorable' and try again.

In an interview with Mike Allen for "Axios on HBO," Republican Sen. Mitt Romney unfavorably compared President Trump to Joe Biden and Barack Obama, describing the latter two as men of honor — but singling out Trump cheating on his wife as "not honorable."

Romney on Donald Trump: "He has elements I'm sure of honor in his life. And there's things that I think are not honorable. And I mention that because of the payment to a porn star for sexual relations outside of marriage. Look, I'm ... one of those who believes that we have a responsibility to be honorable and faithful to our wives, and the president made a failing in that regard."

Romney on Barack Obama: "I believe he's an honorable man. Yes. Yea. A good family man. And he made a lot of mistakes. Most presidents do."

Romney on Joe Biden: "I don't know Joe Biden terribly well, but from everything I've seen, and the interactions I've had with him, he seems to be a man of honor."

Absolutely amazes me how people still thinks the civil war was over slavery. No matter what documented facts slap them in the face.
"She was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery--the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits--a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which her people intended should exist in all future time.

Chattel Slavery forever and ever.

I was referring to the civil war. Not what caused some states to secede.
Lincoln blocked the ports(an act of war), which caused the secessionists to fire upon them, because of MONEY. Not slavery. Lincoln supported making slavery a constitutional right.

You you don't think secession caused that kerfuffle that both sides used for recruitment propaganda? The state took over a federal fort, also an act of war.

The civil war started over money. Not slavery.
Lincoln offered them slavery for life and they still seceded. Facts are facts. Feelz are feelz :dunno:

We would all be wise to study the trials and tribulations of this man. He had everything taken from him after the war. Frankly, it is amazing that nobody assassinated him. There are certainly parallels between what happened to the General after the war and what is happening to Donald Trump today, a man being absolutely castigated for merely trying to do his duty to his country in a loyal and effective manner.
As I recall, General Lee set a historical example with his graceful surrender.

He was also a man unambiguously possessed of Manly Virtues....no one would ever make that claim about Carrot Top.

That is really not what he chose. Slavery is what the fight became. It was caused by tariffs imposed on product export from the southern United States.
You mean imports? Lincolns tariffs on southern imports were over 40%. He used those to subsidize northern corporations. And the northern banks that helped finance slavery.
This shit is so complicated and most people have no idea. They just know "muh racism"

I love discussing this stuff but man does it get me upset.
That fucking tyrant POS lincoln is why big govt won and small govt lost in this country. He showed everyone that the masses didnt give two shits what the govt did, as long as they supported the end game.
It has only gotten worse.. Now look at us. SMH
