Basically California demanded their gas suppliers explain why their costs are so high and at least one of them responded explaining they have to charge so much because of all the road blocks California puts in front of them. Essentially California is causing the high cost of fuel.

That state is its own worst enemy. Which is a shame because it's a beautiful coastal state, it's home to the legacy of Hollywood, it's a great place to go on a vacation to and so on. But ever since the democrats wrested control over the state and turned it into a blue stronghold it's been on a decline and in the past few years newsom has run it into the ground.

Well what they're saying here, is if California continues to make it costly and difficult for refineries to operate, more will shut down. And California refineries supply nearly 90% of Nevada’s gasoline and half of Arizona’s. Fewer refineries equals reduced supply, which of course equals higher prices.
