Much more interesting in this context is a night in history when Hitler thought about whether he should destroy Paris totally. Then he decided not to do so. No one knows why. The Russians, English, French and US Americans never thought about to destroy German cities, because they were not such an evil and cruel dictator as Hitler was. They just simple did do so on good moral reasons.

Your idea "Let Europe pay for a destructed NATO" is the same as the Idea "Let Mexico pay for an excluding wall". Indeed you can take your soldiers home. You are not able to defend what you hate. And it's by the way not so easy to learn a slawic language. Nevertheless Russia is a foundation of the Vikings and had always in history a good contact to Germany too. If you should think Russians and Germans hate each other then you are wrong. Europe needs Russia - Russia needs Europe. We will find a way.
