Former Knesset Member Dr. Marina Solodkin passed away on Saturday at the age of 60. Solodkin died at a hotel in Riga where she was attending an anti-fascism conference.
The former MK was found dead in her hotel room several hours after she was due at a TV studio. The cause of death remains unclear, but it is suspected she suffered a stroke. The Israeli consul in Latvia is handling the transfer of her body to Israel.

Solodkin was known for her activism for women and Holocaust survivors rights.
- She initiated the reparing of Holocaust Survivors benefits law, which says that compensation for holocaust survivors won't be considered income for tax payments.
- The law of 'sitting', which says cashiers will not be foced to stand up for entire shifts.
- Repair of the law of "womens labour" saying that women will have the right to demand leave of absence after coming back from maternaty leave, if and when they worked in the same place 12 months before.
