According to the e-mails obtained by AP, he demanded the changes when it appeared that Christel House, a charter school backed by influential Republican donor Christel DeHaan, was going to earn a "C" in the state's grading system. Both Indiana and Florida use an A to F grading system for public schools, including independently-run charters.
"They need to understand that anything less than an A for Christel House compromises all of our accountability work," Bennett wrote in a Sept. 12 email to then-chief of staff Heather Neal.
